Honestly, I was skeptical. I’d been looking for a way for a dry connection that I could use to control the fireplace and this was it! Used a Kasa smart plug and the install was done in 10 min. I can control it from the wall switch like normal, from Alexa, or from the Kasa app. The power of the sun, in the palm of my hand.Works perfect. Good price. Fast delivery. One thing to note. The dual connectors? They are exposed a bit after you set it up and I didn’t want those metal contacts coming in contact with anything else, so I wrapped them in electrical tape. Done and done.

I have a 1994 gas fireplace. This was perfect. Now I can control it with my iPhone or Alexa (using Alexa's Smartplug). Now if you do use the switch you wont beable to turn it off from the alternate device. But I found I never use the switch now. And I set it for an auto timer so when it was cold out it would kick on earlier to help heatup the downstairs in the morning before everyone was up.

This really helps with home automation through a smart plug. I found that if you have an existing wall switch, you can wire this remote switch in parallel or in series.Method 1: In Parallel. This is the method provided in the instruction. The remote wires are piggybacked onto the existing wall wires. Each switch is completely independent of the other. Either switch can complete the circuit to signal the fireplace to come on.The Good: As long as you have AC power, you can rely on your home automation of choice to control the fireplace. If there’s a power outage, you lose home automation, but the wall switch still works to turn on the fireplace. The Bad: If the fireplace is turned on with the wall switch, you cannot turn it off with the remote and you lose home automation.Method 2: In Series. Disconnect one of the wall switch leads from the fireplace controller (does NOT matter which one). Connect the now disconnected wall lead onto one of the remote leads (doesn’t matter which one). The end of the remote lead has a piggyback male plug which allows for this. The other remote lead now goes onto the fireplace control connector where you first removed the wall lead. That’s it.This means that BOTH switches must be on for the fireplace to turn on. But either the wall switch or the remote can turn off the fireplace.Alternative (Method 2B): Disconnect the wall switch leads and only connect the remote leads to the fireplace controller. This takes the wall switch out of the circuit and disables the wall switch. The Good: The fireplace can for sure be turn off by the remote or home automation. You don’t have to be worried that you may have left the fireplace on with the wall switch. Suggestion: that you leave the wall switch in the on position all the time if you plan on solely relying on home automation. The Bad: If the wall switch is in the off position, then your home automation won’t work (unless you took the wall switch out of the circuit, ie Method 2B). If there’s a power outage, the wall switch won’t work unless you connect the wall switch leads back onto the controller.

We wanted our fireplace to not be 110 volt dependent, so we purchased a millivolt system, which just needs an off/on switch to function even when your power goes out. This kit allowed us to turn the fireplace on and off using Alexa, and when there's a power outage, we just take the Alexa control out of the equation so we are able to turn the fireplace on and off.

The device works exactly as expected! After a quick 15-minute install I was able to remotely control my fireplace without any issues. It's extremely impressive for just a 20 bucks device.

Plugs right in and works in seconds. If you have power beneath your fireplace (common with fan units) and you take 2 minute to install this you’re doing it wrong. Product works flawlessly, although I’m using it with an Alexa plug so my only problem is that I cannot use it with Google home (thanks Amazon + Google 🙄). We use our fireplace a lot more now as it’s perfect when you’re feeling a bit chilly on the couch and don’t want to get up. Recommended.

Easy to install and instructions were clear. One option not shown is to install in series with existing wall switch as a safety. Works perfectly this way and able to disable it being turned on physically.
