Does it work, sort of. But it is definitely not a direct one to one replacement of the genuine John Deere part. You can get it to work but it doesn’t fit the same as a genuine John Deere part or function as well.

This was for my John Deere JX75. The end that attaches to the bar to engage the clutch did not fit. This has a round hole whereas the original Deere part has an elongated hole to fit over the hook it is meant to. I modified this with a Dremel to fit.

I purchased this replacement drive cable because the original one would not adjust due to rust at the adjustment. The modification needed is where the cable end attaches to the handle. The cable end is not exactly like the original—you will need to enlarge the hole to make it work on the jd-jx75 mower. Once modified—works like original.
