Great door closer. Very heavy duty, still very adjustable. I needed it for front door not to be slammed, yet to ensure it is reliably closed automatically. It does the job 100%. Always quietly closes the door. I had to drill holes through the door to mount the closer as it is heavy and powerful and requires solid mounts. One drawback for my use is that the feature to hold door open, which is extremely useful for us, is friction based, so it applies significant force to arm mount when you unpark the door to close it. Requires pretty solid mounting for the arm. The hold open feature may not be used, which relaxes requiremens for silid arm mount. Operates quietly, and looks good with included cover box.

The instructions are almost useless. The company doesn't have any installation videos to help. Hope you have a lot of patience.

Direct replacement of old 30+ year old unit that the hold open nut stopped holding tight enough to hold the door open. This new unit corrects the issue.

Nice solid construction. Seems as good as the ones selling for twice the price. My main reasons for this item:1- automatically close the heavy door that goes from the garage to the house2- keep the door from slamming when the wind catches itSo really #2 was the primary reason. I had previously installed a closer that was rated for this type of door and it did not do the job.We live in a warm climate and doors and windows are commonly open throughout the house. Whenever the wind blew, if the two-car garage door was open (or still on its way closing) , the wind would slam this solid core door so hard it would shake the house.I would feel it upstairs on the other side of the home.I put up with this for years. This unit has solved that problem. No matter the wind, this door now closes nice and slowly (and quietly). So why the four stars? If you read any of the other reviews, you already know. The instructions are terrible. They provide enough information to be dangerous to a DIYer.If you have installed these before, your all set . You probably don’t need directions.I required watching YouTube (video by Stanley was very helpful) , some guesswork, and re-drilling a couple of holes (grrrr).A simple task became more of a “project”. Minus one star ;)I think with a minor effort the company could correct this. However, it is a solid product that does the job well.I would buy it again.

I highly recommend this product. I installed two of these on 36” door of different weights. Individual close and latch settings allow it to function flawlessly.

I have no complaints. It closes very softly. Even if you rest the door against the jamb, where it's open just a crack, it still pulls it shut. I'm glad I decided to buy a nicer unit than the basic piston style.

Was ok to install as long as you followed the instructions. However the door pivot mount was frozen on the first unit I ordered and completely missing on the sent replacement. Will never buy again.

Overall decent quality, instructions are pretty limited and have some errors and conflicting information. Plastic cover was broken in 2 locations so could not be used. Hold open mechanism pivots on a thread so I expect it will wear out and need constant adjustments. To adjust hold open you need 1-1/2” wrench and it is very difficult to turn as it’s an incredibly tight lock and very thin surfaces for the wrench to grip. Overall it’s okay but I don’t think I would buy it again.

Too large to work on interior theater doors. Unfortunately, I had to return them.
