I have a old RUUD A/C unit (model UAKA-042JAZ) that I need to replace eventually. It's over 20 years old. It's been repaired by technician before with multiple parts two years ago. The unit stopped working again on a very hot day. The unit would not turn on. Thankfully, my brother was able to help me swap out this part to get it running again. Basically switch out the part by unscrewing the existing one and rewiring it. This was only a $35 part that probably would have cost me $200 - 300 for service.

The new contactor worked well; after installing it, I again had auxiliary heat. I'm hoping this higher current version (40A vs. 30A) will outlast the old one.6/10/2020 Update: Almost 2 years after installing it, the new contactor is still working great; let's hope I can say that 10 years down the road!
