Definite purpose contactors are electrically activated switches designed for application-specific use (i.e., HVAC, compressors, etc) to provide compact load control that can handle diverse switching needs. These reliable control components are available up to 120 amp capacity and in 1- or 3-phase configurations at coil voltages from 24 to 240 VAC.

My Nest thermostat showed a wiring error when turning on the AC for the first time this season. I traced the issue down to this part, checking the resistance on the plunger terminals and finding none.This part was a quick swap out and fixed the problem without the need for a pricey visit from a professional.

Got tied off being hosed by HVAC techs. Ordered this and installed with no issues. Took me a half hour. Would have been sooner but had to do a little wire work. Good value!
