Does a great job on 12 volts and lasts all day. The cable steer takes a little getting used to.

I went from a 1991~ Mercury Thruster RL21 to this. Boat is a 1991 Alumacraft Classic Deluxe. Mounted using the MKA-23. The footprint of this is huge compared to the previous and barely works and only works because of the MKA-23.So I thought I would love the MK pedal but absolutely hate it. This thing does not stay still. It's not balanced, so you have to hang your foot off the bottom edge, right on that ridge. So you're required to wear shoes unless you want to hurt your heel. Even then, heel side is still way heavier. It seems I really don't like the button being on the left side. Using the big ball of my foot to activate doesn't seem as easy as using my pinky side. Quite often, I'm not sure if the motor is on because I'm somehow not pressing the button correctly. Motor is too quiet and or too much wind noise to notice if it's on. An activity light on the head would have been nice. The latch pins are apparently a problem. Seems like I'm constantly lubing them. Somehow they get so stuck that you're basically pulling so hard of the cable that it looks like the whole thing is about to rip off.Speaking of ripping off, I'm not sure how the trolling motor hasn't ripped itself off yet. It seems like these 5 speeds all suck. 1 is useless for 99% of the time 2-4 are either too fast or too slow. 5 all the sudden is way, way, way too damn fast. This is the major problem with the trolling motor. 5 want's to rip off the front end of the boat and throw everyone overboard when it makes a sudden turn from "torque steer". You were going straight but 5th speed finds some slop in the steering and jerks the boat to either side.It goes 0-100 is the snap of a finger. There being no smooth start is absolutely mind boggling. Like I said, I expect it to rip off the front of my boat at some point. It's only a mater of time before it throws me in the water. Then changing speeds. You got off and 1-5. You're basically kicking the pedal around trying to change speeds. I have no idea why it is that difficult to do. Half the time I'm just kicking it around and living with that or other times, I'll sit down, hold the pedal with my left foot and switch the speed with the right. Only to "still" select the wrong speed, because like I said, It's so hard to do.Top speed with my boat on my Helix 9 was either 2.6 or 2.8mph. Very unhappy with this dangerous and difficult to use trolling motor.

Product is exactly as advertised. This is a great motor for the person who just wants something basic to use while fishing.

Motor has great power for a 14ft v-bottom. Appears well made with large foot peddle. A little difficult in stearing while engaging throttle. Best value for the money.

At first the directions seemed a little complicated, but when you lay it out, it becomes quite simple. The operation is easy to learn and becomes second nature in a short time...like breathing. It helped me convert a wonderful old fishing boat into a fun fishing machine.

Had this for 2 years on my small bass boat now. I’ve definitely noticed a decrease in power from when it was new. It grabs weeds like that’s it’s job. To lock and unlock it from the closed position I have to push down on it because the latch gets caught. To pull it up out of the water it’s just an easy tug and it pops up.

The 16' boat/25HP motor I have is as large a unit as this motor will push. I did not come with the top line propeller which is advertised, and I will have to buy it after market, as it is needed to perform well in weedy waters. The foot peddle is awkward to use, especially when in the mode where you have to keep your foot down to stay engaged. The 1-4 speeds are very similar, and only the 5th speed really works for trolling. Otherwise, I liked how easy it is to install and pull into and out of the water. I think it will need to install a stand up saddle pedestal seat so I can more easily work the foot peddle. Last peeve, t was difficult to find the appropriate sized 50A inline fuse. Why wouldn't this be pre-wired into the unit, as it is an important feature that must be installed after market, further complicating the installation process.

Very nice package and shipping from the seller. The seller shipped the item all the way from USA to UK and I shipped after to Cy via easy-jet,I purchase this boat engine for my father's kayak as a Easter gift. My father loves foot control stuff so I consider this will be an excellent gift. The foot control is very efficient and i believe is the best bit in this type of the boat engine. However for kayak purposes it may be a bit short. What I would suggest for kayak engine? The neck is too long. For kayaks maybe this is not so easy to mount it at the boat.

I truly love this motor. It was a snap to install and it runs like a dream pulling my 17ft tracker with ease. I own both Minnkota and Motorguide trolling motors and have no negative comments for either make.,This motor was just a better fit for this particular boat. I do prefer the larger foot pedal and the composite shaft .provided by Minnkota. Be sure to check the minnkotamotors web site for rebates before you purchase!
