Lives in my signaling bag in a flight suit pocket. Uses the same batteries as my emergency headlamp that also lives in the same signalling bag. I store the batteries separate to the strobe to prevent accidental activation. I also have an EPIRB, but I like old school backups so I carry a strobe and a signal mirror as well. This is very well built kit and great for those who don't need an IR strobe.

I bought this last May. It worked great, then. It stayed in our go bag til we took it out to the boat yesterday. I turned it on and nothing happened. I bought fresh batteries (which are not cheap) and still nothing. It's well past a year since I bought it but I don't think I will buy from the same place. I'm on the hunt for a more reliable and well reviewed light.

The actual item is slightly different than the pictures you see on the package. I am guessing that the package is showing the older model because it has that lens thing in the middle. The one you receive does not have it. Anyhow in regards to performance, (where it actually matters,) this thing is killer, stupid bright. Your retinas will be seared to a perfect medium-rare if you look at this thing directly while it is on! I have no doubt you will be seen from miles away. The build quality is top-notch and I have confidence this will last a very long time. Other lights I have seen on the market, seem like toys now. The size of the device is very compact. In my picture, its set next to a Streamlight HL-X for size comparison. This device went directly to my car emergency get home bag and gives me a piece of Mind knowing I have a top quality piece of kit. In regards for room for improvement, I have 2 minor suggestions for the manufacturer. The first is to update the pictures. Show off that well-earned coast guard certification number. Show off the product Evolution. It could help to discourage counterfeiters! Finally, a magnetic mount would be amazing for this device. It would greatly increase ways that this could be used. EX: mount on car roof, or any metal surface that needs to be marked)

I’ve tried many strobe lights intended to be used as personal locator beacons, most are cheap mass produced garbage designed to turn a profit, not save a life. This one is different. It is easily 2-3 times brighter than the big name brands and much more durable. I have also used the previous version of this strobe, and when it died customer service was excellent. That being said this strobe never comes off my pfd. I sea kayak about 3 days a week in salt water. It gets immersed every trip and banged around often. The lens shows signs of wear but the body is bulletproof. My only wish for this light is that the form factor allowed for more secure attachment to a PFD without some rigging (I use Zip ties and a Velcro strap). All in all, do yourself a favor and ask why you are buying a strobe light. If you need it, you’ll want the best. This is it.

Great addition to an evac pack or wilderness trips! The strobe flashes once per second, ensuring you will be seen even in daylight. This strobe light is small enough to be easily packable. I hope I won't need it, but worth the price. Glad I have it.
