I attempted to use it to make candy, but while using it, the temp probe started reading celsius. Make things worst, the C/F button wouldn't respond. I had to ask my phone what was 290C in F before my batch was ruined.

I bought this and absolutely loved it for making pralines. No more burning myself trying to use a folding thermometer in one hand while stirring with the other. It performed so well for 2 years that I later bought a second one as a spare in case they ever became unavailable. When the battery died in the first one I bought a new battery. When I replaced the battery, the thermometer would not turn on. So I tried another new battery-no power. I was in the prep stage for pralines so I opened the new spatula still in the box. It's battery was also dead. I tried both brand new batteries in the newer spatula and it would not turn on either. This is very disappointing!! So be aware that once the battery dies, the thermometer may never work again. There must be a defect somewhere.

I don't know how I lived without this. I've tried several other kinds of candy thermometer, but am always frustrated that they won't take an accurate temperature in the area where I'm stirring. This thermometer makes caramel and toffee (and in sure other things as well) easy. You can use a higher temperature than you might otherwise, and finish your candy faster, because you can accurately track temperature changes. My mother tried this at my house, and then proceeded to gift it to every one of her kids, her sister, and a friend who makes caramels for Christmas every year. The friend told her that she was able to get her caramels the same temperature within a tenth of a degree. We are all very impressed with the performance and usefulness of this tool.

I just got this a week ago and I love it! I like it it’s silicone so whenever I’m making candy it doesn’t stick to it and it’s easy to clean. I like that it’s accurate- no more burnt csndy. . My last candy thermometer was a CIA brand and it wasn’t accurate I compared my new one and my old CIA brand and the CIA brand was 20° lower. Not accurate. so far I’ve made eight batches of peanut brittle with it. It’s wonderful. easy to clean, the spatula is really great to use because I can constantly stir my confections all the while, seeing the temperature the entire time. I love this highly recommend.

I've been using it almost a year now. It does what it says and works well.Recently the on/off button stopped working, I had to reset it to get it to turn on. After contacting support, I received a free replacement a couple of days later.

For years, when making yogurt, I have been using a digital thermometer with a probe that clips onto the side of the pot and a cord that trails across the stove to attach to a box that displays the temperature while I stir the yogurt with a spoon. This spatula with a thermometer probe is a MUCH better tool for the job. I am able to easily monitor the temperature of the milk while stirring. Once finished, the thermometer is easily removed from the spatula and washed by hand while the spatula part goes into the dishwasher. What really puts this tool over the top for me is how it performed when I used it make peanut brittle. It is impossible to buy peanut brittle that even comes close to what one can make at home. Commercial candy makers heat the syrup to the final temperature, pour in the nuts and then pout the mass into a sheet to cool and then break apart. At home, on a small scale, one can add the peanuts before the final temperature has been reached. This allows the peanuts to cook in the syrup, releasing their oils and flavors resulting in every bit of the final product having a rich, peanut flavor. Commercial candy makers do not do this cooking in the syrup step because it is nearly impossible to stir a giant mass of hot syrup nearly saturated with peanuts. At home, it is extremely difficult to stir this mass, ensuring that everythinging is cooking but not boring all while monitoring the temperature of the mess. A traditional candy thermometer clipped to the side of the pot is useless because the peanut mass spends little time up against the side the pot. A probe thermometer can work but it difficult because one needs to stir with one hand while holding the thermometer with the other. That leaves no hand free to hold the pot in place and prevent it from scooting off the burner. Enter this thermometer/spatula gizmo. With one hand, I am able to stir, scrape and monitor the temperature of the cooking peanut brittle. It is sturdy enough to hold up to the heavy duty task of stirring a mass of sticky, hot peanuts. Judging from the final results, both taste and texture, the temperature measured is accurate. Never again will I be trying to juggle on peanut brittle day.
