12PK Raw Muscovite Mica, Mineral Specimen - Approx. 1"- Geologist Selected & Hand Processed - Great for Science Classrooms - Eisco LabsThis item is exactly as described by the seller. I received 12 separate bags, each containing a piece of mica that is at least 1”. I live in an area where there is mica in many of our rocks and my grandchildren are fascinated by the way it sparkles and shines. They were amazed and somewhat disbelieving when I told them that the magic of mica is that you can peel it in layers and even break it with your bare hands. They also enjoyed hearing some of the information that can be found on the seller’s page, especially that “Muscovite mica is a mineral that forms from cooling magma.” I ordered these specimens to share with them and also to use in the fairy houses that we like to build. Thin pieces of mica make great windows for the fairies. I definitely recommend these specimens for any aspiring geologists as well as for classroom use.

So so so disappointed in these. They are minuscule slices (like 1, MAYBE 2 ply toilet paper) and, because they're so insanely thin, they're also CRAZY fragile. Sad to say, but. I cannot recommend these.

What was shown in the picture which appears to be a 1 inch or so piece of mica with numerous layers of thickness so that the piece isn't completely transparent. It is described as 1X1X1 inch. What I got appears to be a couple of layers of the original and is a completely transparent paper thin piece of mica, maybe a micrometer thick .....for 6.99. This will break apart in no time as there is nothing to it. Save your money.
