About this item

  • [Heatsink with Heat Pipe] – Patent pending angle and height adjustable heatpipe connects two layers of aluminum heatsink decks. The heat produced by M.2 2280 SSD will be absorbed by the heat pipe and effectively conducted to both the upper and bottom heatsink. 18 to 28 degrees Celsius drop is expected. NVMe and SATA M.2 SSD are supported. Suitable for PCIE 4.0 Gen4 NVMe
  • [PWM Cooling Fan] – Equipped with a 30mm cooling fan connected to the fan control socket of the motherboard. Low noise level at max rate 9300RPM rapidly cools down your SSD. Equipped with 4Pin 2510 connector fit most of PC. Please fine set the fan control strategy in the BIOS at a right balance between the temperature decrease and the noise level
  • [Quality Thermal Pads] – 2 packs of thermal pads deliver high performance at 4.8W/m-k. The pre-divided small pads are for the main control IC and memory chips, while the big single-sided pad is to apply to the middle frame facing against the bottom of the SSD
  • [Compatibility Note] –
  • [What’s in Package] – 1x ElecGear EL-80X M.2 SSD Cooler, 1*Small Thermal Pads for IC Chips (Pre-divided Blue), 1*Thermal Pad for SSD back side (Single-sided Grey), Screws and Screwdriver

We purchased into this with the idea that it was going to support a story that we were working on to prove the benefits of cooling when it comes to getting a little bit more out of NVMe drives. That, and we were looking for a device good enough to get the temperatures we were looking for. Which is important since we don't simply buy things to run stories on since stuff comes to us all the time from everywhere. That being said, the product performed quite well, and the story went quite well because of it. We consistently see differences in temperatures of around 5(C) to 8(C) depending on idle or load, and in testing various scenarios.Because of this, we felt that this definitely became one of our favorite cooling methods for NVMe. It has since been doing quite well cooling the drive that it was installed on and remains there to this day. I could definitely see us trying out some of their other products as well.

I have a Seagate Firecuda 530 4tb with a heatsink. The heatsink can't be removed from the bottom part so I left the entire thing their. I then took ElecGear and used a thermal pad to put this on top of the Firecuda heatsink and used strip ties to hold it together. My temps went from 61c (on full load) down to 43c (on full load) and I had the M.2 fan only at 50%This thing is a beast and what I did could be done with other M.2 drives where the manufacturer puts literally glues the heatsink on and it can't be removed.

I had a drive that was running hotter than I wanted - idle around 40C at times. I bought this and installed and so far in the past 24 hours it has leveled off to 32C under normal "idle" conditions. Very happy and pleased with this product so far.

This heatsink/cooler took only a minute to install and it works great. Yes, the adhesive for the top comes in squares but I just peeled off one side and stuck them all to the top of my new NVMe SSD drive and then peeled off the other backing. My new SSD drive consistently runs between 35-36 degrees C (95-100 F).
