It also has an easy locking mechanism that keeps the lid tightly sealed, maintaining the internal temperature while protecting food from accidental spills. Simply swing the carry handle forward to open or back to lock. It even locks halfway, so your food is safe and secure while carrying.

Wanted an electric cooler for road trips and in case of power outages. After doing research, we settled on this one. Quickly cooled (about an hour) or heats (couple of hours time) and works great! Easy to set up and use. Not heavy at all . Highly recommend it.

We purchased this K-Box for a recent 20 day road trip and this unit worked perfectly in every way. The set up is incredibly easy, the motor is quiet, and we were thrilled at what a great job it did keeping our perishables cool. The unit is very well insulated and even after unplugging for an hour, the contents remained chilled. For the times we had to leave the unit unplugged for a day of hiking or sightseeing, we'd drop in a bag of ice which also worked well. One of the features that I especially liked is that by day, the power source came from our car's cigarette lighter. At night, we could plug the unit into an electrical outlet. We had read other reviews where people complained about overheating but didn't have this problem ourselves, probably because we did not let the unit run 24/7 but gave it a "rest" at night whenever we had access to a mini fridge. The unit does have limitations. While the K-box will keep chilled foods cold, it will not cool down foods that have been packed at room temperature. And, while it works really well for a single traveler who can store the box on the passenger floor, it's a bit more problematic for a traveling couple since the 6½ ft. cord doesn't give you many options for placement. The interior also felt a bit on the small side. While it easily carried a couple of quarts of a beverage & some canned juice, it wouldn't hold the storage containers that held our perishables (like fruit, cheese and cold cuts). I ended up having to throw everything in ziplocs instead which is not that convenient when trying to prep meals at a road side table.Despite the limitations, this is a terrific product that is exactly as described and does what it is supposed to. We are glad we purchased this and plan on taking it on all our future road trips.

I set it up and plugged it in about two months ago. It's been running 24 hours a day since. I've only used it as a micro refrigerator and it keeps the items perfectly cold. I'm using it to winterize garlic bulbs for planting out. I don't get enough frost hours on the Southern California coast to grow garlic. This is doing the trick for me. I'm also using it to cold shock small batches of makgeolli to separate out and clarify the cheongju (the clear amber liquid).I just have one precaution: All of the heavy components are in the box lid which makes the mini 'frig top heavy. When loading or unloading the box use caution. With the lid open all of the top weight will be on one side of the box making it unstable. It can tip over if there isn't any significant weight inside the box. Just keep that in mind when opening the box and you shouldn't have any problems.

I bought a Kbox cooler several years ago because my sister was staying with us and needed a small portable refrigerator nearby. Little did I know how great it would be. It's absolutely awesome for traveling with no mess from ice or bulky ice packs taking up all the room inside. We plug it in an hour or so before we're leaving, let it cool, then fill it with cold food and drinks, take it out and plug it in inside a vehicle and we're good to go. If we know the cooler will need to stay in the vehicle when the vehicle isn't running for any period of time, we throw in a couple of ice packs to maintain the temperature inside the cooler. It also works great to keep food cold or warm when we run out of room during the holidays or large events. It's very easy to carry it from the house to the car, to our lodging for the night, etc. Our original Kbox stopped working a couple of weeks ago and I ordered a new one immediately.

Just received this and have been running it about a week. I expect to update it later after much more use.First: it is exactly what the description says it is. Durable, functional, and easy to use. It does a great job keeping things cool. As others have written, you may not want to rely on this to cool things down. It is much better when you put already-cool items in it and use it to keep them cool. I love that it plugs in to both a wall outlet and a car cigarette-lighter outlet. The cords are durable and a good length (not too short but not too long, either), running about 3 feet each. They are very conveniently stored in the lid when not in use. It is the perfect road-trip travel cooler. So why did I only give it 4 stars overall? Because I wanted it to be a bit more than it is. Not only did I buy this as a travel cooler, but also as a daily-use, back-patio cooler. It is almost big enough to fit 6 2-liter bottles in. (It really fits 4 if you want to close the lid.) The compressor never shuts off, so long as it Is plugged in and switched on. That isn’t a problem, per se, but I had assumed it had a thermostat and would shut off once it reached a designated temperature. THAT would have made it into what I was hoping for: an energy-efficient patio refrigerator that I could use every day all summer long.I still use it every day, but I shut it off at night and empty it when I’m not home. Energy efficiency was one of my main reasons for buying this, and it needs a little supervision in order to achieve this. But ultimately, I am very pleased with this, so long as it is long-lasting. It is off to a great start; I’ll check in again with a status update.EDIT: 12/22I’ve been using this cooler for over two years, and it is still working. I used it most every day at first, but since about 12/20, I only run it about a dozen times a year as a travel cooler. Still works well, and I am still happy with the choice.
