These calipers are decent for general measurements and offer reliable repeatability when moving from 0 to full width and back. While the operation is mostly smooth, there’s some roughness toward the outer range. Additionally, the calipers aren’t finely ground, with uneven top and bottom surfaces. This doesn’t seem to affect accuracy but does reflect on the overall build quality.On the plus side, they come well-equipped with a pre-installed battery, a spare battery, a screwdriver for replacements, and a sturdy case for protection. While they’re not my go-to for precision work, they’re great for situations where I’d rather not risk damaging higher-end tools. I recommend them with that caveat in mind.

After fiddling with micrometers and standard calipers for a while, the first time I saw one of the digital calipers, I knew I had to have one. The first one came from that "salvage" store named after a safe mooring. It worked well and still does. In the meantime, I found one via an online auction. Talk about junk. Others have come along since -- Mostly good. The main things are accuracy and repeatability. Once you experience one of these with both of those qualities, you'll never go back. So, why order this one? It was cost effective and looked to be a clone of one of my current favorites.It arrived quickly -- in 2 days. Which was on time and as estimated. The caliper, and its factory packaging, looked to be in good shape with the exception of a small puncture hole in the box.The LR44 battery was already installed but there was no small insulating strip (for battery protection during shipment.) This resulted in the caliper being powered on during shipment. The caliper zeroed properly and measured several small items just as expected. The results were accurate and repeatable.One aspect of calipers, of this design, is that the battery cover is held in place by two small screws. Tiny, difficult to handle screws. The cover can be a positive or a negative. Great for keeping the battery in place and connected. A bit more of a pain than a slide-off cover when it's time for battery replacement.The caliper I received has a slight flaw: One of the small straps at the end of the scale is slightly askew. Which makes one wonder about the caliper's precision and the quality of its workmanship.
