I had initiated a return due to the fact that the retaining bracket for the scope itself was too small in diameter for the AD407. However, you can take the main post out of the stand that came with the AD407 and thread it into the new arm. It fits perfectly! Yes, it does hang down a bit, but I feel it adds to the adjustability overall. With other scopes, you would need to move the arm up and down on its mounting post. By using the AD407 post, you can just move the scope itself up and down. I am going to add pictures for anyone who may also be struggling with this. You will also need a ring LED since the LEDs from the stand are not going to be able to move to the arm. Keep in mind that the AD407 power cord is 5V and uses a 3.5mm barrel plug. Some ring lights are 12V and use a 5.5mm barrel plug. That just means another wire run and those 12V transformers that come with the ring lights are somewhat short. There are USB to 12V step up cables available - just make sure you get a cable length that meets your needs.The arm itself is fantastic for the price! It is solid and rigid - great quality! Articulation is stiff, but still smooth, which is what I want. The wire management components are a nice touch. It’s super easy to assemble and use. The other really nice function is that the mounting clasp opens extremely wide and fits my very thick workbench.

This is a very solid and stable stand for your microscope. This tightens down very securely and is flexible in it's movements. This definitely is overkill for my little scope but will work great for heavier ones.

This stand gives me the needed clearance to work under my microscope while watching the screen. I was very pleased with how stable this was with just it's table clamp.

This was a game changer for my Andonstar. With this soldering is not a problem. With the stand that came with my AD407 pro, the base was too small for most projects, and the base lights were always in the way or too far from the work area. I did add a microscope led light to this. But overall this was one of my best investments. A+

Seems to work real nice. The only lacking is an up/down capability which it does have via the round slide tube. It would be better if a mechanism had it but still really nice.

This is a really nice microscope boom arm. When I opened up the boom arm and began setting it up, which was very easy and simple, I went to install my microscope which is the Tomlov DM401 Pro 2K Digital Microscope only to realize it didn't fit. The base of my microscope was too large to fit the inside diameter of the piece that held microscope. I was quite annoyed at myself for not checking. That was when I had the realization that the holder looked like part of the stand that came with my microscope so I went and grabbed the stand. Sure enough, the piece that holds the microscope is the same as the piece of the stand that came with my microscope so I was able to take out that piece and thread it into the spot where the smaller one was on the boom.Just in case anyone is reading this and the product page doesn't explicitly give the inner diameter of that piece (I'm too lazy to check at this point), the inner diameter of the holder is 1.37 inches. I even uploaded a picture with me hold calipers measuring the inside of that piece.Other than that specifically, I do like the boom and I was able to make it to work. It is on the more expensive side but I really have no real complaints at this point in time. The arms move smooth and it holds the weight of the microscope very well so it's very sturdy. The clamp that clamps onto the table also clamps very tight and eliminates any extra movement or wiggle.
