How long should I charge my two way radio battery?
- As always, it depends on the type of battery. Ni-CAD, Ni-MH and Li-Ion all have different charging methods.
- Generally though, it should only take two hours on a rapid charger and 4-6 hours on a standard charger.
- When using for the first time, it is recommended that you charge overnight, that is, the charging time is about 12 hours. Some specialized chargers take longer, such as charger-conditioners.
What do I do with my old batteries?
- You can dispose of any batteries at any RBRC affiliated store. The RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) has members in every major city in the United States. There is no charge to drop your batteries off there. Home Depot and Radio Shack are two of its predominant members.

I bought 2 of these in May. One only lasted 27 days before it went bad. My 2nd one dies in less than 8 hours with barely any use.

Where I work at sometimes its hard to find a battery, they either have all walked off or don't work well from misuse/abuse. So I decided to buy my own so I wouldn't have to worry about that. I have had these for a couple weeks now and they are great so far. The first time or two for both batteries they lasted about 8-9 hours, but after charging them a couple times on the charging unit at home they are now lasting my full 12 hour shift, so that is outstanding. I'll post an update if something should happen, or one fails suddenly or something like that, but right now I'm happy with my purchase.Edit: Had them a couple months now and they are both still working good. They are averaging between 9-10 hours per charge. No complaints.
