This fixture is solid wood with a light inside of it. Actually two pieces of solid wood. They are held together via a dovetail-like tab-in-slot joint in the middle and gravity keeps them together. This, along with the use of the wires as the pendant lines makes the installation of this fixture a challenge to do by yourself. I did so, but it took quite a bit of preparation and frustration to get it installed as desired. It looks great and the remote control makes it highly adjustable for my home office lighting needs. The reason it only gets 4 stars is for the lack of being ETL/UL listed which all 120v fixtures in the US are supposed to be per NFPA 70 code. It is a quality fixture and most likely would easily meet the UL listing requirements and the manufacturer should submit it for listing.

First off, this is a good looking light. Wood finished nicely and definitely adds a touch of class to the kitchen. It also matches my Boos Block kitchen island nicely. The brass accents also give it a very unique look. Not a huge fan of the cords sticking out of the tubes so i retracted them entirely into the base to give it a cleaner look. With that said, there are some downsides of this light. It's one of those that comes with a remote and the only way to adjust the dimming and color is either through the remote or by touching the metal hoop. The dimming is stepless but the color temperature is not. I am not a fan of the higher color temperatures and usually keep all of my lights at either 2700k or 3000k. With this light, you have to cycle through the temps whenever you touch the bar which is a big annoyance. Also, because it's one of the cheaper LED controllers, you cannot dim this light via a wall switch which is yet another issue. I do like the looks of the light so at some point i'll probably swap out the LED controller to something with a color temp switch and switch dimming and ditch the remote thing altogether. Lastly, the one biggest gripe i have with this light is that the wire leads on one end of the wire loop is unmarked and just partially stripped back. On the other side it's terminated to the LED controller and every other lead is labeled including the bare ground wire (go figure). The issue here is that it's a little 22 gauge wire and looks like it should be for low voltage just like the other side but it's not tied to anything. I think instead it's supposed to be attached to 110v AC. The instructions do give a vague depiction of the wiring but it's not at all clear. I don't know what it's for but i'm only imagining that it provides the necessary signal for the touch bar. Either way, it's strange and i hooked it up anyway and it's working fine. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this light. Looks are great, light output is good, build quality is good, wiring and remote are both a mess.
