Using EMG’s new Retro Active technology, the T 52 System is our twist on the vintage 1952 Tele with the classic twang and edge players have known for 60 years. By combining alnico 5 (bridge) and alnico 2 (neck) we have spun tradition upside down giving players more punch and plenty of body where needed. The Retro Active discrete FET preamp removes all the noise and hum associated with traditional Tele pickups. Players will love the passive feel with active clarity. The T 52 System is an easy solderless drop in replacement that takes minutes to install. Designed and built in California the past has never sounded so good.

Installed this system in my Squier Clasic Vibe 50s Telecaster. Really improved the quality over the sound.Pretty simple install. I was able to lay the battery flat under the tone/volume knobs. No need for making that cavity bigger to accommodate. No soldering required. Took me about 30 minutes max.

These are not the EMG actives of yesterday. They aren’t super hot or anything, just completely silent. I mean… super duper silent. If you want the classic tele sound this is it, but the 60 cycle hum is absent.Install is a breeze. I’m talking 15-20 minutes max.I’d buy these again.

If you are looking to kill the 60 cycle hum that single coil tele pickups are famous for then get these pickups. Yes, these are the EMG version of the '52 tele pickups and a lot more. This is the T52 system pictured but you can order these pickups with out the control plate as a retro fit for your tele, the T52 set. No soldering is involved and a video is available on EMG's YouTube channel to help you with the install. You will be installing a 9 volt battery as part of the installation and it will go in the control cavity with a little finessing. YES, these are active pickups so a 9 bolt battery is part of the deal. You could make a slight notch in the control cavity where the battery connector may come in contact with the body. It's a bit tight but a slight notch will give you enough clearance for the 9 volt battery connector and will not be noticeable with the control plate installed. Not a hard modification to do with a small chisel that is very sharp. Not much wood will need to be removed to allow for what clearance you need. The wires on the connector are what will need the clearance and it's very little. Not a big problem.Play your tele with these pickups once and you won't go back. The tone is everything a telecaster should be and more. EMG did an amazing job putting these pickups together. No soldering required. No copper foil shielding or shielding paint required to stop unwanted hum. No string ground required either. Get the EMG hex wrench to help with the install. It's a good tool to have.I like the pickups for the ease of installation and tone. Problem free results is what I got with these pickups. I use EMG pickups in my P bass too. These are great for recording as well a live shows. These pickups deliver the goods in tele tone in a big way.
