Works as it should so far. I have only used this to cut some slots in 1/16" mild steel. So there is not much there, but this bit had no issue with those cuts. When I look for cutting tools, especially end mills, I like carbide better than cobalt. I simply have had better luck with carbide. They seem to stay sharp longer.I think that most of the small end mill bits like this get used in the mini-mill units that are popular. That is what I have. But I can say that I learned a valuable lesson with those mills. They have backlash in the gears, so you need to be careful and work slowly. And something that helped me tremendously was to get a set of collets and stop using the "drill-chuck" for these bits. The chuck also has backlash and allows the bit to grab and pull the bit/work together. It ruins the work, usually the bit, and even damages your machine. So if you use bits with 1/4" shanks, remember you can snap them if they grab and bind. Can be kind of dangerous as well.Use these correctly and you will likely be very happy with them.

I recently got my hands on these 1/4" end mills with the AlTiN coating, and I'm impressed. The four flutes make for smooth cuts, and the coating seems to really extend the life of the bit. They've handled everything from softwoods to harder plastics with ease. I've been able to crank up the feed rate and get a lot more done in less time. If you're looking for a reliable end mill that can handle a variety of materials, these are definitely worth considering.

The finish in the flutes is better than most budget end mills, and the coating is holding up nicely. No complaints.

Nice Carbide End Mill at Economical PriceProduct Reviewed: Carbide 1/4" Square End Mill - 4 Flutes AlTin Coated - 1/4" Shank - 3/4" Length for Cut - HRC 55 for $9TL;DR; Fine grind on flutes and end lips; economicalI’ve reviewed a lot of import carbide end mills now. This version of this brand has an excellent surface finish on both the flutes and primary relief angles of the end lips. These come with rudimentary factory package missing the gel pack on the flutes that some others come with. Not an issue at this size of mill IMO.5 stars – see macro photos. Bench review only. How I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings.

This 4-flute cutter did a nice job on a side cut on my mild steel piece, with a clean smooth finish. It also worked well for aluminum with side cuts. However, I had a lot of problems with aluminum getting stuck to the bottom of the cutter when milling a slot -- far more than most other cutters I've used. Experiments with feed speed and RPM didn't net me any major improvements.
