SENSORS: HOW A VEHICLE THINKS
The electronic control unit measures the temperature of the engine cooling water according to this change. The lower the temperature, the greater the resistance; otherwise, the smaller the resistance. Based on this change, the electronic control unit measures the temperature of the engine cooling water as a correction number for fuel injection and ignition timing. Simply put, we can understand the running state of the car, stop or move, or how long the movement lasts, etc. through the temperature of the engine water temperature .
SCHNECKE is one of the world’s leading suppliers of replacement sensors and other vehicle electronics for virtually all vehicle nameplates. Unlike many other manufacturers, however, SCHNECKE doesn’t strive simply to mirror OE fit, form and function; the company’s technical services and engineering teams work hand-in-hand to identify problematic applications that demand better-than-original equipment technologies.

The inside of the water temperature sensor is a semiconductor thermistor, the lower the temperature, the greater the resistance; otherwise, the smaller the resistance. Based on this change, the electronic control unit measures the temperature of the engine cooling water as a correction number for fuel injection and ignition timing.
The car water temperature sensor is installed on the water jacket of the engine block or cylinder head, and is in direct contact with the coolant to measure the coolant temperature of the engine. The temperature sensor used by the coolant temperature gauge is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor (NTC), whose resistance decreases as the temperature increases, and there is a wire connected to the electronic control unit ECU. The other is the ground wire.
The water temperature sensor is installed on the water jacket of the engine block or cylinder head and is in direct contact with the cooling water. Thereby measuring the temperature of the engine cooling water.
After a thorough diagnosis to ensure that a engine coolant temperature sensor are in fact the direct cause of the drivability or no-start condition, refer to the applicable service manual to aid in replacement of the sensor. Follow the correct installation process so that no damage will occur to any component during installation.
