The timing chain synchronizes the crankshaft and the camshaft, make sure that the valves open and close at the right time. Timing chain and timing gears are held in place with a timing chain tensioner. With this tensioner, the chain won’t skip or jump. It gets held in place, so the crankshaft and camshaft gears can turn at the appropriate speeds.
When the timing chain kit fails, you will experience problems like grinding noise, engine misfire, difficulty starting, reduced fuel economy, and even engine failure.

Fit my 2011 GMC terrain 2.4 perfect. I did however use some of the original sprockets because they just seemed a bit tougher. I'll write an update in the future for longevity I've only driven on mine for about 30 mi now
