I thought these pliers were a great idea..and maybe they are. They're beautifully made and have a nice smooth action. The jaws look very grippy.HOWEVER, it appears that carbon steel composite deck screws (like Trex) are even harder than the jaws of these pliers. Buggered up the jaws on the first try. Didn't try a second time, hoping these will still be useful for garden variety sheet metal screws.

This style tool was a "go to" for IBM field service, for office product repairs. It was issued in the standard tool case we carried on every service call. I looked for years when I lost it after I retired. The absolute best use for it is.... in the end there's a hole perfect to trap/twist together romex wires before installing a wire nut.

Less than a minute after opening the box, my Engineer Pliers solved a stubborn broken screw on a kitchen cabinet and I have a few other projects that I'm going to use this for over the weekend. Excellent tool!

For grabbing a screw head on, this is the ticket. I am an engineer and I love when I see someone who is really on the ball coming up with something that is a problem solver. This is. Hats off to the inventor! This thing actually works.

I used these many years ago. This pair work just as well to remove striped screws and whatnot.

I have used a old brand, Utica gas pliers for about 40 years, which has not been manufactured for years. This is a very close replacement. The Engineer PZ-55 seem to be a well made plier. For me it's the tool thatI'm glad I have it when I need it, and find new uses the more I use it. Excellent grip in all directions. Great for removing damaged screws.

So far, good. I still can't believe I spent this much on a pair of pliers. They are well made, but very pricey.I got these as a convenience tool for times when a plan head screw is stripped and I am too lazy to get another extraction tool. They work well for now. I don't know how long the "teeth" will last before they're worn down. Are they worth their cost? Maybe. As noted, they are well made. I can not evaluate the materials used, since they are too newThey are a time saver for those #$_&() moments.
