I pounded this into the ground and attached a copper wire, ran inside my home, connected to copper mesh and know I ground/ earth while working at the computer and also while sleeping.

It is not 100% copper. You couldn’t drive into the ground if it was so not upset about it. It has a nice thick copper exterior. Very satisfied.

The listing says a copper rod. The additional information does nothing to dispel that statement. It is not a copper rod. It is a copper clad steel rod. Big difference.

Exactly as described. It is a STEEL ROD with VERY THICK copper plating! Copper alone is way to soft for a ground rod that has to be DRIVEN into the ground. ERICO does manufacture the best products to exacting standards. Great value for the cost!

My yard has lots rocks just beneath the the surface. This makes it hard to drive a ground rod in. This rod is steel and has a pointed tip which allowed it to be driven the full length. Plus it has a very hard plate of copper on the surface ans surface conductivity is what counts for electricity. I used a heavy post driver to pound it in, and then finished off with a 3-pound sledge hammer. Its true that it is only 4 feet long, but according to my ham radio books, another rod driven in at 4 feet distance away should pretty well equal a single 8 foot rod.

This is not a copper rod. It is a copper clad rod. This may serve your purpose but the other reviews that imply this is a full copper rod are mistaken or wrong. This is a steel core copper bonded ground rod. I'm still OK with my purchase as I expected this was the item I purchased. It was delivered as expected and seems to be of decent quality for a ground rod.

I found this grounding rod after a three hour search marathon on Amazon's Search Engine. It paid off though as I found this Erico grounding rod. It came in about 7-10 days just as the seller said it would. I was worried it wouldn't be made of real copper or it would just be a flimsy hollow copper piping. It came in and I was so impressed and happy with it that I wish I could give it 6 stars. This grounding rod seems to be all copper, it definitely has alot of weight to it! It is sized exactly as described. Both ends were pointed and I drove it into the ground using my hammer. It was not hard to do so. I attached the connector that was paired with it by Amazon, and it worked well, I ran 8 Gauge wire to it and clamped it down. I am using it as a grounding rod for my solar panel and batteries system. It really just feels perfectly right. My system is properly earthed, and the pricing on this ground rod was very good. I can't recommend this item highly enough. Definitely buy it. I will get myself another one just to have it around. Just in case they decide to stop making them!
