The W10498976 Refrigerator Water Valve controls the flow of water from the water line to the ice maker or water dispenser of the refrigerator. Your water valve might need to be replaced if:
- The ice maker stops working
- The ice cubes are too small or there is a solid chunk of ice in the ice bin

Part came in a plastic bag with exact replacement part on it. My old one had a 5/16 inch OD water tube, This one is 1/4 inch OD, adapter coupling required, the water flow at the fridge dispenser is less than 1/2 what it was before & also sounds louder. Not an exact match. I don't expect it to work very long, as is.

The part was an exact replacement and works perfectly. It just took a bit of time to attach the water outlet tubing. You need to have patience, but it will attach if you stay at it. There must be a special tool to attach it which I didn't have.

The product fit the Whirlpool refrigerator. This is the second such repair. The first replacement part worked for one year. This second part did not remedy the problem, so evidently it was either faulty or there is more wrong at this time.I would have given 5 stars, but the option to return the part comes with the caveat that if the part has been used (I am sure that having put it on for an hour and then removed it when it didn't fix the issue will be considered "used"), then not only is the cost of return shipping deducted from the refund, but an additional $4.99 is deducted for a used part.Be sure that your parts will work before trying them from this seller, and let me know how you accomplish that when you do.

I don't get it. I ordered one and it came in fine but the bracket to hold it to the refrigerator was not correct. Sent back and requested another one. This one came in with the correct bracket but the tube hole size is made for a smaller diameter plastic tube. I tried to jury-rig it going from one size tube to the other but then there was no water pressure. Sending it back..So if you have to order one I'm not sure how you can specify your water tube size. Good Luck
