Hz function struggles while working on generators and will pull readings out of the air when placed within a couple feet of the running generator. all other functions work great tho. I have 2 of these meters so that I can verify odd readings while working and both behave this way on generators

Even though it is rated for 400A, the jaws are too small for #350kcmil and larger conductors. AC/DC measurement is a great feature.

Useless for Automotive applications if you need to measure down to the 10 milliamp range. ES685 specs claim it will read as low as 10 milliamps. First one I received after being zeroed, would fluctuate as much as 90 milliamps before being clamped around the circuit and then once removed from circuit the unit would continue with a false reading. Returned product for warranty and new unit is still useless with false readings. Spend the extra money for a decent unit!

I bought this meter specifically for the DC low amp function. And as far as I can tell, it works. I have yet to test it against a higher quality meter, to see if they read the same though. As for the quality... It’s cheap. Super cheap. The dial hangs up and gets stuck while rotating it. Putting the battery in it is a pain, so I hope it lasts a long time. Overall, you get what you pay for.Update 12/10/18After 2 months of using the continuity function has quit working.

Bought it mainly just to measure automotive DC current, and it seems to do that just fine. Not sure how well the other fucntions work, other than the voltmeter, which seemed ok. Feels pretty solid to me. Looks like the rubber case needs to be removed to replace tha battery- the instructions supplied with it are not accurate when it comes to describing how this is down. Like the fact it comes with a nice little case.

I need to measure DC amp draws for my work as an auto technician. This tool makes my work easier as I can now find the wire/circuit that is causing the draw. Great product at a great price!

I felt compelled to write this review after reading the poor review left by the other fellow. I like this tool. I bought it and use it for only one purpose, as an inductive DC ammeter. I run an electrical auto repair shop and I use this tool daily for measuring parasitic draws. Its really convenient, and as accurate as it gets in this price range. I have never used its DMM capabilities, and I have never even attached leads to it. A regular consumer may want to heed the other reviewers advice if he is planning on using all the features, but for an automotive professional who is looking for a "first look" inductive amp probe to add to his tool box, this is hard to beat.

This DMM has a lot of features and is sensitive and autoranging. Unfortunately some of those same features are too limited to be useful. Take for example the frequency and duty cycle modes. They can only work with 10 volts or less. That alone has made those functions useless for me. I need both to work with 10 volts and higher, not the other way around. The front panel has a paper thin plastic on it. Good luck making that last in harsh conditions ! Your finger is liable to pierce right through it. To change the battery you have to "undress" or take off the thick protective rubber sheath, that protects everything except the front part, just to get to the battery compartment. Also, the AC mode does not work well (or any at all) to test for AC ripple. My other dirt cheap DMM does a wonderful job at that. Comes with a VERY nice and rugged carry case, and pair of test leads. The color is RED not yellow. I do notice that sometimes the DMM crashes and you have to switch it off and on to reset it - NEVER had that happen to me with the cheap DMMs before. MY conclusion about it, is that you are better off buying another brand. This one will disappoint you. Overpriced too, for over [...] plus shipping.
