I don’t have fancy countertop in my kitchen that needs extra protection but I bought this tamping mat anyway. I recently just started enjoying the art of making espresso everyday as a nice and relaxing routine. I have collected all the necessary accessories to go with my espresso machine. This tamping mat has a perfectly compact size on my small counter space. I don’t really need it but I’m glad that I have it. It makes me feel “complete” in my everyday ritual, in a way that I have done my espresso justice by using the right tools and following all the necessary steps. It does not break my bank to have it and it certainly is made of good, thick material with sturdy design.

For the price I was expecting something cheap and thin but this thing is really nice thick rubber. It also cleans super easily, could not be happier with it!

This is a thick silicone mat that sits on the edge of your counter, with a divet built in for resting the portafilter of your espresso machine while you tamp the coffee. It provides secure cushioning that allows you to tamp the espresso in the portafilter without damaging your countertop or your portafilter. Best thing about it (apart from it doing the job well) was the price--it was under $3.00 ! I bought a relatively inexpensive espresso machine few months ago, and didn't know I needed this until I had used the machine many times. It makes the process so much easier.
