They didn't really tame the sympathetic buzzing as promised, and they didn't particularly sound remarkable on my Pearl Omar Hakim snare. I went back to the stock wires.

These offer a subtle but noticeable reduction in snare buzz, and I’m not sure if it’s these along with how I recently retuned my snare, but I am very pleased with the new more concentrated sound.

Tried the “Blasters” and the “Pro” snare wires, these wires sound the best without any toms interference and the snare shell sound is amazing. Get them and don’t waste your money like I did finding them!

Bought this for a Yamaha steel snare (the kind that came with Stage kits I think) I had lying around as a spare. The previous wires on it had started to snap off. The second I installed the Puresounds I definitely heard an upgrade in sound! I think those old wires were just generic junk; now the snare actually has a good tone! I'm using the equalizer 16 strand version; I didn't have an issue with sympathetic vibration before but even so, the improvement in tone was way noticeable. Was so impressed I had to write a review. Recommended!!!

I bought this wire in conjunction with a Remo Coated Powerstroke 77 batter head and Hazy Ambassador snare side head in an attempt to tame a Pearl Special Edition 14" x 5.5" birch snare, a necessity because the snare is waaay more drum than my entry-level kit which resides in an unfinished basement. And, after a bit of effort, the results are stellar. These are extremely well-built (as are all Puresound products) and even come with step-by-step instructions (if you need them). They're also quite versatile. Depending on the tuning of the heads and tension on the wires, the resultant sound ranges between sharp and dry to soft and wet, with upwards of 80% less sympathetic snare buzz when thumping the toms . Highly recommended. Ahhh, for those still suffering snare buzz, try slightly de-tuning the four lugs on either side of the wire openings (2 x 2) in the bottom hoop. I found this very beneficial for reducing the sympathetic buzz.

Put these on my cheap practice snare with a silent stroke drum head. The old snare wires had a piercing quality that was fairly irritating, and didn’t have a consistent tone. These wires give it just slight more body, a smoother overall sound, and less bleed to the rest of the kit.For a cheap poplar snare that came in a starter kit, it made a noticeable difference. Worth the price to just try it out.

I am really surprised at how well this works, not just at controlling sympathetic resonance from the toms, but in improving the snare drum itself. Before I worked to mute resonance to control the snares bouncing all over, now I have a comfortable range I can tune in, without needing moon gels, so I can really let the snare sing without being overwhelmed by buzzing, just a normal amount of snare sound.

So this Equalizer snare wire does exactly as advertised, it gives you a clean sharp powerful snare sound and removes 98% if not all of the excessive reverb and overtones that can comes from the head or drum. I say 98% because it does flexuate a little depending on the style and genre you are playing, like for Jazz you want a little bit of the reverb and overtones to give that more fuzzy warm feeling, but no matter what style or genre you as the drummer find yourself playing you can loosen or tighten this wire on the spot to bring about that perfect sound that you desire. 15/10 would recommend. Pass it on 🖐

I don't know what put me on to this brand of snare wires but I'm glad I found them. It's no lie, this 12-strand snare-wire with the gap in the middle has much less sympathetic resonance with the other drums, so when you roll across the toms your snare drum is not going buzz-a-buzz-buzz-buzz.To be honest there is still a small amount of rattle but not nearly as bad as my previous 20-wire snare and for recording studio applications this is very important, any improvement is good and this snare wire was a big improvement. I installed it on a Yamaha Anton Fig signature snare drum.It comes with a couple of PureSound Blue Wires which are what you use instead of typical snare-cord, the Blue Wires were harder to get into position when mounting the new snare wire, once mounted they are working ok. I'm not sure what the advantage of the blue wires is, they were harder to work with and I can't see how they're affecting tone but I do love this new snare wire.I love when technology improves even the simplest of things like the wires on the bottom of a snare drum. Looking at the quality of the soldering on these snare wires made me feel a lot better about their price, they seem pricey until you use them, then you wonder why it took so long to get one. Fewer snare wires means less rattle and more drum tone too, lots of interesting info on the PureSound website. Amazon makes these a no brainer for delivery and price.Good luck and good music to all
