The description did not say that the lead was sold separately that I could find. Since I have a drafting set I was not too worried but NONE of my leads fit it. I will have to see what I can makeshift to get them to work. It does fit my metal yardstick and my wooden meterstick. Blade for cutting is tiny. Does not look substantial enough to cut cardboard. I would not recommend this tool.

I thought this was a compass to draw a circle. As on the sealed board describes. " #3 Place anchor at center of area for your for circle and turn on anchor point to cut or draw circle." There is no lead or other method to draw a circle. It comes with a blade only, to cut not draw a circle. I am not sure how I am to attach a pencil or what ever to draw said circle.Maybe that is why a previous reviewer said "not complete."

Good compass. My complaint is with the swivel blade it broke before using it. I removed the blade and tried to reinsert it into the holder and the blade broke. I replaced it with another blade I had from another knife after modifying it to fit.

Actually a cutter. I had to fiddle with it a little to get it to just draw a circle. It works far better for a large circle than a stand-up compass would.
