Misplaced my blue point, so I bought this in a pinch. Worked fine, but please understand it is only two pieces. You cannot do a double flare without the additional inserts that this does not come with. If yours is starting to slip, or just replacing it and you have your inserts you're golden.👍🏻 if not by the 6 piece kit, unless all you do is single flare. Only used it once, but worked well.

This flaring tool is very marginal in quality since it will mis-align too easily. The 3/16 flaring hole is much too small but the copper appears to be 5mm instead of 3/16". The hole should be closer to .196" dia. (#9 bit) but is .175" so will squash the tubing. The copper tubing was also purchased through Amazon measures .198" dia. (5mm is .197").

I bought this tool for making flare connections on 1/4" and 3/8" copper heat pump lines. It took me over an hour to make 4 simple connections. I had to repeatedly cut off and remake flares because they were stretched out, off-center and squashed over, as the handle did not fit tightly to the flaring bar and moved around as the flare was being made. The flaring cone had a burr that caused scoring on the face of the flare- that's a guaranteed leak. I had to file the burr down. The teeth on the inside of the flare bar are so aggressive they bite deep into the surface of the copper and create jagged ridges that then also need to be filed down before the flare nut will slide over the tube again. In 20 years working in HVAC and making flare joints on a regular basis with few issues ever, I have never seen such a worthless piece of junk.

I needed to do a very small gas line and had to flare copper tubing. I saw mixed reviews on similar products so I was a little nervous about buying this type of tool for my small project. My fears were unwarranted. It is a very simple too and is plenty robust to flare the 3/8 copper tubing that I used it on. I would buy this again if needed, but it seems like the tool will hold up for many years to come!
