I ended up getting a small oil leak after installing this. Drained the oil and pulled it back out. The supplied gasket had cracked on installation. I will use a different oil plug gasket for it.Another thing to consider when using the Fumoto is that, unlike pulling a drain plug completely out of the pan, you have 3/8ish inches of the threaded part of the valve essentially acting as a stand pipe in the bottom of the oil pan. This prevents the oil from completely draining. I’m personally still not sure that the convenience of the valve is worth not having the pan entirely draining. It’s not much oil left, but I have to assume that contaminants could be settling in the bottom of the pan.

After lots of research I bought for my 2021 4runner. Really makes oil changes much easier and quicker. Been through around 5 oil changes so far with no issues or leaks. I do have a skid plate covering to protect it.

I have used fumoto valves for most of my cars and will continue to do so since it makes oil changes super easy. Fit was perfect on my 2011 Toyota Sienna.

I have replaced the oil plug on 3 vehicles with these. I have been using them for 4 years now and they work great. I have never had them leak a drop of oil. My one and only observation is that it can take the oil longer to drain vs removing the factory drain plug. Were only talking about adding 10 minutes your oil change. But to not have to use tools and be able to use a hose to drain directly into an old oil jug, you can’t beat it. I was worried at first about being on the road and having an issue. I store the original plug in the glove box in case its needed, but this has been great. If you are looking for a way to change your oil without tools and making a mess this is it. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

i drive a lot, so I change my oil a lot. makes oil changes quicker and less messy. the handle seats securely in the slot and won't come out, so the safety clip is just extra. its been on the van for about 8 months and the original fiber gasket is holding up perfectly without leaks.

Greatest upgrade I’ve done on my truck! Makes oil changes a breeze. Both quick and no mess! Quality construction and easy installation. Purchase a tube attachment as well to drain oil directly into old oil container for even easier cleanup.

The drain valve works as described and make oil changes as easy as swapping the filter - no other tools required. However, consider a few downsides:It takes longer to drain due to a reduced opening.It may not fit all vehicles, if you don't have enough clearance to accommodate another inch or two for the valve.Adds complexity and not as solid of a seal as a simple drain plug, so a one in a million failure may result in a catastrophic engine failure if it leaks.It was also shipped in a soft bag, which was banged up a bit, so who knows what abuse the valve took in transit.Overall, very happy with three of them that I have on my cars.

This new(ish) model has a larger diameter to allow oil to drain faster than the older models. Some engines, particularly several of the Toyotas, really need their oil changed every 5,000 miles to keep the oil control rings on the pistons working properly. Having this valve makes the job that much easier and saves getting out a wrench. The shorter length also minimizes the chance road debris could whack it and cause it to be torn from the oil pan. That is a situation is concerning to some people with this valve as compared to a bolt, but since most cars have protective belly pans, I would think the chance is very low of this ever occurring. These valves have been in use on a ton of cars for a very long time and work extremely well. Having this valve also prevents the chance of stripping out pan threads by the "technicians" at oil change places that rush to do their jobs since they aren't removing and replacing the pan bolt every time. Mine had a cracked black retainer clip that is unusable, but it is not really needed as the tab/spring mechanism keeping the valve closed is 99.999% reliable. If there is a concern, you could zip-tie the lever to get the "belt (rotation), suspenders (spring and slot lock) and safety pin (clip or zip tie)" protection.
