Will not work on 12ga American barbed wire. The tensioner wire bends around itself not strong enough to bend 12ga barbed wire. Maybe for gaucho crap or some other thin weak wire,Total waste of time and money!

A quick look at the instructions and I was in business. Was able to tighten a few loose strands of barbed wire, and I also added a new section of wire to a broken spot where a tree had fallen; one of these sucked it up nice and tight without a wire tensioning tool. Will be buying again!

With better engineering and quality control, these would be brilliant. So they are okay, and the price seems fair.

This thing is way bigger than i thought it would be. We have a small hobby farm, on which we have goats inside of an electric fence. The goats are very good at escaping. Our fence is 7 strands. We have the ratcheting tensioners on most of the fence, but we added some gates and were left with a few spots that did not have the more expensive ratchet tensioners on them. I found these on amazon an wanted to give them a try. I installed them today and although they are big. They work. I could easily break the wire with the torque you can put on them. So it works with my smaller wire fence and would work with the biggest wire fences as well. I'm glad i found them.. I highly recommend this kit.

I have tried to use this several times and can't get it to work quite like it is supposed to. I was able to tighten up some fencing a little but was hoping for better results.
