The smaller surface area above the pickup hole is smooth and shiny while the larger surface area below the pickup hole is matte and stippled (slightly textured).Worked out great for my guitar build. I aged the part slightly on my own after receiving it (see photos). Would buy again.

I like these Fender bridge plates. Nothing in particular that I dislike about the stock ones, mind you. Anyway, this one went on a Squier Telecaster Classic Vibe 50s. So why did I give this unit 4 stars? I had to drill out the mounting holes for the pickup to 3/16" to accommodate the screws. The other Telecasters that I swapped out bridge plates had no issues. Are mounting screws not a consistent size for Telecaster bridge pickups? I don't know, but I figured that was something to lose a star for. I do like the finished product. So there you have it. If anyone else finds a discrepancy with the pickup mounting hole size, mention it here. If you don't, mention that, too. This is a nice little upgrade for your Tele. Get one.

This is a nice bridge plate. I never measured to make sure it would fit so their is a small gap to the left of my plate but that doesnt really bother me. Good purchase.

Puente original vintage de telecaster, medidas exactas y calidad. Lamentablemente no incluye los tornillos de montaje, por ello no le doy 5 estrellas

I prefer this vintage bridge plate over the heavy 6-saddle bridge that came on my Fender Standard (MIM)Telecaster. I bought this bridge plate and put brass saddles on and it "woke my guitar up". It really made a difference in TONE! It gives nice overtones that are missing with heavier bridge plates. If you want TWANG...buy this plate and get some Fender Pure Vintage saddles. Dont worry though, you are not limited to twang. I use this with fuzz and distortion too!

Did an extensive "Fenderizing" of a $190 GFS Xaviere "Tele" and wanted as many vintage Fender parts as possible, just for fun. This bridge fit perfectly. As mentioned by another reviewer, it's only polished chromed surfaced half way because it was designed to be covered with the vintage "ash tray".(see photo). The bridge cover looks cool and feels nice and smooth on my hand although it took a day or so to get use to. Had to trim a small area on both sides of the pick guard to get the cover to fit flat (hint: Dremel tool). The only problem with the bridge plate was the string holes had sharp edges and I broke a high e string at the bend the first time I strung it up. Filed the edge of the hole smooth and no more problems.

Reading some of the other reviews, I was worried this bridge plate might not be smooth on the bottom or that it might have sharp edges. I had none of those problems. Mine was just what the doctor ordered. Great value for genuine Fender parts. Twang-dilly-ishus! :-)

Mine is a crude stamped piece with razor sharp edges and a very half a$$ polish job pre chroming. It looks HORRIBLE!! I would NEVER mount this to any of my Tele's!! Going straight to the garbage...no, not even the scrap bin...the garbage! Total waste of money.

While this does not come with 4 mounting screws, this was a bery good buy for on real Fender telecaster vintage bridge. The partscaster this went on sound terrific. I did age it ( as is the current fad) so the lack of screws did not mean anything to me as I used aged slotted head screws.Fit guitar perfectly.

This is a drop-in for MIM telecasters. Keep in mind that compared to the stock 6-saddle bridge plate, the vintage plate will not extend as far back on the guitar body even though the mounting holes, string-through holes, and bridge pickup mounting position are the same. This is not the best vintage-style bridge out there that you can buy, but it's a Fender part and will fit.Perhaps most importantly, the description of the item does not note this, but there are NOT screws included for mounting the bridge to the guitar body. You must use your old screws from the bridge you're replacing or buy new ones.Lastly, if you need an entire bridge assembly, buy this plate and brass/steel barrel saddles separately--you will save money compared to getting the whole thing pre-assembled. Assembly takes barely any time.
