No filter is included with this item. The connections for water inlet and outlet are 3/4 NPT.I am going to use this filter to house activated carbon block in line with 2 other filters housing a sediment filter and carbon. Review of ”FHW10 10"x2.5" Whole House Water Filter Housing...":(Please refer to my reviewing guidelines at the bottom of the page). We live on our 52' Trawler 100% of the time and anchor out and travel 99.99% of the time. The vessel has two 250 gallon water tanks that last us about a month between refills. We use a 10"x2.5" housing with sediment filter on our drinking water quality hose when filling the tanks and then also have two 10"x2.5" housings with a sediment filter in the first housing and a carbon filter in the second housing for all water that is fed out of our 500 gallon (combined) tanks to all the inside faucets, toilets, and showers. We also have two of these housings mounted outside the vessel that filter the sea water for our anchor wash-down and outdoor Bow and Stern showers. The outdoor units do gradually deteriorate from UV exposure and need to be changed out every few years so I ordered this unit to serve as a replacement. In the distant past I would purchase housings that had a built-in bypass valve, but that was always the weak point of the housing that would would either fail and cause a leak out of the valve port or become impossible to turn without breaking it. So now I avoid housings with built-in valves. External 1/4 turn 3/4" NPT ball valves (when needed) that screw into the inlet and outlet ports are far more reliable. This housing is the best designed housing that I've owned over the years. The best and most unique feature is the double O-Ring seal between the canister and top. Instead of just having an O-Ring around the canister itself there is a second O-Ring on the top mating face as well. I highly recommend using a food grade grease like "Super Lube" to apply a thin coating around both O-Rings and also a bit on the canister threads to help the sealing performance and extend the life of the canister because it will have a better seal without having to being installed so tight. This design is also somewhat unique in that the air bleed valve is serviceable, which is a very nice feature because over time they can get debris caked on their small O-Ring and become difficult. This housing offers an accessible screw inside that can be removed so that the valve can be lifted out of the top for spring or O-Ring cleaning or replacement rather than replacing the entire housing. The top mount design of this housing is superior to many in that it mounts with 4 screws in the very top of the housing without conflicting with the inlet or outlet ports or the bleed valve. The mounting frame is a strong piece of steel with a good coating of paint but if that paint gets scratched it will certainly rust, so do dab some paint on to any possible scratches that may be caused during installation and you'll help prevent that rust.My last observation of this housing is in the obvious quality of the food grade reinforced polypropylene. The mold they use has been very well machined because the entire housing is very well formed with smooth threads, very consistent thicknesses, and an excellent finished appearance. The inlet and outlet ports are very robust and can obviously support the housing via rigid pipes if that is needed without the use of the steel top mount.I've done a bit of market research on Amazon for this specific type of product and find that at $25 (and the current availability of a 5% coupon) this 3/4" port housing is very fairly priced and quite an excellent value for the quality received. This product is highly deserving of the 5 star rating that it's receiving. My responsibility as an Amazon Vine Reviewer:Considering the Amazon rules/regulations for being a Vine Member It is obvious that it is very important to Amazon that the person doing the review has indeed inspected, tested, used the product as well as being aware of the competitive situation of the market segment. This is so it can be fairly compared and reviewed whether good, bad, average, or anywhere in all of the grey area between. One thing that I wish were better defined by Amazon is exactly what each star should represent from 1 to 5 so that every Vine member would use the same guide in that regard. So, to let you know the guide that I use, I include it as follows:I always start off considering that average is 3 stars, and an average rating to me is: The product was correctly represented in the ad. The manufacturing quality is as expected. The product performed as intended. The product operating/user guide if needed is helpful. The product is priced accordingly. Then after inspection, measuring, testing, using, wearing, or whatever is required I add or subtract from the average as follows: Subject to additional stars: Additional product features not expected that are useful. Manufacturing quality/performance above what was stated or expected. Included guides and/or useful information that is beyond the norm. Product pricing highly competitive for a superior product. Subject to fewer stars: The product was misrepresented in the ad. Manufacturing quality/performance below what was stated or expected. No useful guide or understandable user information when required. Product pricing is on the high side considering quality, features, or the market.all the best,dr

This item shipped and arrived fast. The 3/4 inch inlet / outlet 2.5" X 10" hole house filter housing feels and appears well made. This filter is made from heavy duty white plastic or ABS type material. The bottom portion of the filter housing is also solid white and you can not see your filter unless removed. These filters are very easy to install no matter if you have copper pipe or PEX lines. I added this filter and a spin down filter to our existing two other 2.5" X 10" filter housings to make a custom 3 pre-filter system for our well water supply. This whole house filter housing does not come with a filter. It does come with PTFE tape, wall mounting bracket, housing wrench, o-rings, and instructions. This housing has a pressure relief press valve so water does not spray out during filter changes. Overall this is a well made filter housing and I rated it 5 stars.

I probably have half a dozen or more whole house water filters spread around for various projectsI installed one in my previous house, and I installed one in this house where I'm at. They turn brown and fill with rust and other junk, which I prefer not to be in my water when it gets to the sink and washing my clothesThis one doesn't have the valve for bypassing and turning off the supply to it, so keep in mind that the ones you get from the box store have that control valveI can recommend this

I've installed water filter housings like this one under just about every sink in our house to help reduce the chlorine taste of our water. We're installing a bar in our basement and will need another filter for that sink, so I ordered this one. This MEWMORE water filter housing accepts standard 2.5" x 10" filters. While made almost entirely of plastic (other than the mounting bracket, which is a very sturdy thick powdercoated metal, measuring in at 0.09" thick), the plastic is thick and feels very substantial. I have no concerns about how sturdy this is.I appreciate that the filter included a wrench, which makes it easier to remove the lower filter housing for filter swaps, especially since these filter housings are often located in awkward spots under sinks, etc. making it hard to get a good grip on the lower housing. They also included some teflon plumbing tape for when you install your fittings, along with the screws needed to attach the bracket to the housing. Note that the bracket can be attached to the housing in two orientations, allowing you to have the water input port on the left and the output port on the right or vice versa, depending on your needs.I haven't yet fully installed this because our wet bar isn't finished yet, but if I have problems once I install this and have put it into service, I will update this review.Overall, this feels like a well constructed unit at a price that is comparable to competing filter housings. The only thing that I think would be nice to have is if the lower housing was clear plastic like some other similar units--that way you can see the condition of the filter inside.
