The solution for companies of all sizes or to secure files at home from prying eyes, this bar will do the job for either a 4 or 5 drawer file cabinet. This beige Guardianite 4 drawer locking bar is 46 inches long. How To Measure: Measure the height of filing cabinet to confirm the size needed. The bar needs to be slightly shorter than the filing cabinet. If it covers any portion of the top and bottom drawers, it will work. How To Install: It is easy to install on any standard filing cabinet. The 4/5 Drawer File Locking Bar mounts to the 1/2-inch frame on the left or right side of the drawers. One (1) cobalt drill bit and keyed padlock are included. How To Use Our File Locking Bar: Using the file bar is simple. The hinge is spring loaded. Once unlocked, the bar swings open and stays out of the way, making accessing files easy. Our file locking bars will not interfere with opening or closing of the drawers. This was exactly what I needed. Very easy to install — watched a short video and ran into no issues. Took less than 15 min. I will be buying a few more for the office. I didn’t give it a 5-star rating only because I bought a couple that came with padlocks and found the keys were interchangeable and fit both locks. So that might not work in an office if more than one are being used, and you want/need a unique lock for higher security purposes. You can just buy your own padlock for an easy fix.

It seems pretty sturdy. I added a bigger lock. Fairly easy to install on my 4 drawer file cabinet I should have bought with a locking mechanism when I got it years ago.

This file cabinet lock was easy to install. I didn't time my husband but it didn't take long to install two of these locks. Full disclosure--he is a long time DIYer and had all the tools needed to drill holes into the file cabinets. If you are capable of marking and drilling holes into a file cabinet these locks will be so easy to install.The bars are heavy duty and should act as a deterrent to anyone wishing to get into the file cabinet. The lock is not that big but the hole through which the lock fastens can only be as big as the bar width. So lock size is constrained.

Simple way to make an old filing cabinet more secure. Would not stand up to a determined break in, but good enough for restricting access in most cases.Was straightforward to fit following the instructions. Very useful that the drill bit and padlock are provided.
