If you black Fender 2 pin style tuners, but don't like the buttons and prefer the look of vintage buttons, this is a very inexpensive way to solve that problem as the buttons on these tuners fit the shaft of Fender branded 2 pin (Ping) style tuners perfectly! I went through A LOT to figure out how to get black staggered locking tuners with vintage style buttons. They don't sell them ANYWHERE, I don't think they exist on the retail market, but they do on my Strat now! Other options you may find, but they won't be staggered, or they won't have the locking feature, or the buttons won't be these vintage style buttons. If you want all those specs you've got to get Fender locking tuners in black (have locking feature AND are staggered) and then order these tuners and swap the buttons. These are the most affordable option with buttons that will be compatible with Fender tuner shafts. You also can't find black vintage style buttons alone, but sets of buttons are more expensive than these tuners are anyway, and while I can't speak for the tuners themselves, I can tell you that the buttons are solid and have a weight to them that suggests quality. I won't put crap on my guitars for the sake of aesthetics, and that is why, when you want to put black hardware on a guitar, it almost always takes quite a bit of patience and research, along with some trial and error in order to get it done to where it looks proper and professional. But when you do, it's hard to beat the look of a nice guitar with quality black hardware and all the other accoutrement to match. I don't know why guitar companies don't offer the black knobs and hardware look more than they do, or at the very least have a few popular models with which it can be an option, even if it were at an additional cost. I know if they did such a thing, I'd pay the extra, and every one of my guitars would have black hardware. On the other hand, I love working on my guitars and customizing. And I like knowing that after I've finished decking a guitar out with black hardware and accessories, that it's definitely going to stand out from the rest of the regular old chrome, nickel, and even gold clad guitars out there! None of the other colors (even with all their shine) quite stand out and POP like black does. Yet if you do it properly, it still will look just as classy and classic as the others as well.
