You have to tighten all the screws and may have to grease up the buttons that allow it to collapse. But once that’s done, it is as good and as strong as the original!

Doesn't seem sturdy enough.

Bought for my Tenor and Alto Saxes. I found there's too much play in the lower flip-up joint. Therefore the Alto tends to fall backward. The Tenor works fine as it has enough weight hanging forward, if it's going to be on the stand for a while, I usually swivel the neck around to put extra weight to the front. Not a bad stand, wish the joints didn't have so much play in them when the stand is all deployed.

The stand is well-made and seems very durable. It packs down to a good convenient size. My only problem is that the weight of the tenor seems to pull the stand back instead of leaning forward. My alto sits forward over the front leg and is very stable. My tenor is heavier and pulls the stand arm back. This pulls the horn more upright where the weight isn’t over the front leg, and makes it feel less stable. I haven’t had any problems where the stand fell over yet, but it’s just not as stable with a tenor.

After reading reviews of not being stable after I ordered it, I was a little skeptical. However, it was a little unstable but if you carefully tighten up some of the nuts, the stand works great! I gig several times a month so I am always looking to upgrade my equipment. My alto and tenor both sit quite nicely without any adjustments. I will definitely be getting another for my tenor.

I plan to keep this stand but was not tickled with it. I had to defeat the folding ability by tightening all the bolts to get the wiggle out of it. It allowed way too much movement on the main folding upright support. I had to tighten all the bolts to the point nothing would move to get decent stability before I would put my saxophone on it and walk away. Fortunately for me I was not so interested in the folding ability. Much more interested in stability. Seems to me you are likely not going to get both out of this stand.

Despite being described as being good for a tenor sax there was no way that it would work for a sax that size. I found it to be shoddy construction. In addition it cost me $26. to return it - more than 1/3 of the original price. Definitely not recommended.

Good design, poor execution. Looks good and the built quality is decent, but this stand has 2 problems, in my opinion.. 1.) The horn, (in my case, a tenor sax), sits too upright, enough so that I worry that the horn will fall backwards off of the stand. 2.) The stand has a ball snap, but the hole that the ball snaps into is too large. When you put the horn into the stand, it wobbles back about an inch or so, and this problem is exacerbated by problem #1. Every time I put one of my horns in this stand, I hold my breath. Both of these problems could have been solved so easily. What a shame. Otherwise, this might have been a good product. I would never take this to a gig! I will probably modify it to a permanently open position and keep it in my studio.
