These were a replacement to a set that I had before that the color had faded. It lost a star because I got 2 of the same side so the wire part goes in a different direction on both sides.

After receiving the latches and inspecting them I am really concerned about the quality of the metal and cable are made of I am really concerned about the latch and cable rusting and ruining my paint I would possibly like to return if possible ?Darrin

The retaining nuts vibrate loose leaving the hood held down only by the tethers and hood catch. Looks like a simple lock washer ($.01) would go a long way is perfecting the product.

These hood pins were purchased in the late fall of 2022 and installed around the Thanksgiving holiday. The vehicle has sat outside since that time. Upon taking it to the repair shop, the dealership workers could not get the key to work on the one hood pin. I examined it and could see that the locking pin inside the restraining shaft was already seized. Due to the basic science of matching dissimilar metals close together, rust has affected the cheaper metal immediately. I will put some lubricant on the shaft and these small locking channels, but now the bushing has fallen out of the same hood pin, making the overall fit non-performing. Poor design led to these failures. Not a cheap lesson but worth a one-star review to share with possible future buyers. A word to the wise. I would have preferred a strap system for my hood pins, but the hood design was relatively flat, so I had to go this way. I am going to use a small wire brush on the one remaining operable hood pin to avoid a complete failure and I will likely rig something up from Home Depot to make use of the hood-mounted base system. Otherwise, this was a complete waste of money.
