I bought this after flipping my kayak during a small craft advisory. This makes getting back in during difficult conditions much easier

Five stars for 4’ of awesomeness. Easy to use, easy to see, easy to store, easy to clean, and made in the USA.I have used these about ten times and I expect to continue to use them. I practice with them so that I know how to use them in an emergency, especially in choppy water. Are there way cheaper products at a fraction of the cost (that are just basically a glorified loop of nylon at the end of a longer run of nylon webbing)? Yes.Do you really need the bag and the little bits of foam around those loops of nylon? No, but the foam does help hold the nylon loops open and helps you know where to grab, so you can pull them off your feet when you’re done. This is super helpful when your boat is going downstream, you’re trying to get in your kayak, and still untangle all your stuff while you’re feeling a bit disoriented. While the bag adds more bulk - and yeah, you could keep a loop of webbing in your PFD, the bag is also easy to find and manipulate under moderate stress.Do I have any idea what the two different ropes are for when I’m pulling them out while floating next to a swamped kayak? No, and if I’m self-rescuing, I’m probably not taking the time to inspect the foam pieces for words, so I’ve used both “pull” and “step” interchangeably and successfully. Is it worth it to have everything in one little neat package? Yes! This thing, bougie as it is, makes a paddle float rescue so much easier and faster. And for that, it deserves all the stars.

I bought this because I am a big dude that is new to kayaking. I bought it for peace of mind to keep in my kayak and use when I fall out. Long story short, I haven't fallen out yet. BUT, I did use this item already. A young guy was on the lake and was having trouble getting back to shore. I deployed my strap & had him hold onto it while I paddled back to shore. So it has already paid for itself in usefulness. I cant say it saved a life on the lake that day, but it did make a little guys day & made me feel good that I was able to help him out of a bind. So with that said, it is a well built item and when the day comes that I fall overboard I am sure this will come in very handy to get my large booty back into the yak.

I hope I never have to use it. But it seems like a must have for this old yak fisherman to be able to get back into his kayak if it ever came to that. Pricey considering you could probably make something functional for much less, but it does seem well designed and stows very nicely.

My disappointment with the product received was that the webbing was black and not the high visibility fluorescent yellow like in the picture which was the main reason for the purchase. I have kids who use the kayak as well and I wanted something easy for them to see as the water temperatures here in the PNW are quite cold and dark.

If you have a Hobie pro angler this thing is a must. Don't see the need for one on my Coosa but wouldn't want to try flipping the pro angler 14 over without it. Haven't had to use it yet but seems to be a good quality product and well thought out.
