I bought these to replace the 3.27s in my 2009 Lincoln town car. Using the same shim thickness from my 3.27s (.026) tightning up the carrier bolts the gears jammed. After switching to thinnest shim in the Kits (.010) There was about .005 backlash, and my gear patterns showed the pinion was still in too far. I returned them and ordered 3.55 Ford Motorsport gears which set up fine, but now I have to pay someone to reprogram my speedometer

You get what you pay for. These parts were a little more but ended up being the genuine Ford parts. Everything went together well and it is quiet. Now to see how long it lasts.

I wanted a modest increase in power for my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis.This particular ring gear was not put on any panther vehicles has it was introduced for the mustang after the Panthers were discontinued.Panthers, meaning lincoln, mercury, and crown Victoria's.I couldn't find a 3.27 ring gear but found this and I just finished the install. Is it an easy job? No it really isn't but it's a lot of fun and very gratifying. These gears did not require any change in the pinion shim or the carrier shims.The backlash was .009" which is absolutely perfect and the gear tooth pattern is shown in the picture.I am so happy I decided to buy the Ford Ring & pinion!1000 mile update:. Gears are perfect, car feels much stronger getting onto the freeway & pulls with ease around town. I drive for a living so this has literally changed my life!
