Why is are PVC fitting sockets bigger than their named size?
PVC sizes get their name from the inner diameter of the PVC pipe as they are nominal, or 'in name only'. If you add the thickness of the wall on each side of the pipe, the outside diameter of the PVC pipe will always be larger that the actual PVC size.
What will this Internal Dome Cap fit?
Important PVC Size Information
This Internal Furniture Grade PVC Dome Cap will fit over the end of standard 1" Size Schedule 40 plumbing-grade or Furniture Grade PVC pipe, which has an outside diameter of 1.315" or 1-5/16". The inside diameter of the pipe should be approximately 1.049" or 1-3/64". This product will not work with Schedule 80 or Thinwall (Class 200) PVC pipe.

How to Use Internal PVC Dome Caps
When to use PVC Dome Caps
Furniture Grade PVC Dome Caps are primarily used to clean up the ends of PVC pipe segments so they have a smooth, finished appearance. Pipe segments that are topped with a Dome Cap can still be inserted into PVC fittings to create a blocked off pipe segment.
Insert the Dome PVC Cap into the Pipe
Pipe segments should be cut to a perfect 90 degree angle for a seamless look. Align the PVC pipe with the dome cap and press it into place onto the pipe. If preferred, you can use clear PVC cement for a secure and permanent fit: Apply a small amount inside of the PVC pipe before insertion.
Tap into Place until Fully Seated
Tap the Dome Cap onto the end of the PVC pipe until it is fully seated over the pipe. The dome cap should adjust to minor variances in the inside diameter for the PVC pipe. You can then use the Dome Cap segment in your PVC project or build.

I don't understand the comments about these not fitting. They work perfectly for me. I used these to build a utility bar for my wheelchair that was lightweight and removable using only one hand. Not the usual application I believe but it worked and I'm pleased with the result. I added a pair of brackets to a custom set of portable grab bars I designed for my wheelchair to hold the utility bar. The utility bar itself is relatively simple (picture attached) but quite sturdy and convenient (picture of chair attached)

The purple color is true to the ad. Just what I wanted. All pieces I ordered were accounted for and fit perfectly. Don't use the glue that doesn't have primer. It gives zero time to adjust the placement of your parts. My project is a walker for my 12 year old Sheltie.

Fits well but not as shiny and polished as the photos. Overall dull looking and the edges are rounded, not chiseled like the photo shows, which is likely a computer rendering. Not a big deal. Does the job well regardless.

I ordered these after seeing a towel stand someone had made on pinterest, they have helped me make some nice colorful towel racks for out camping, and they are easy to assemble and disassemble.

These are the perfect caps for furniture grade pvc. Using them in my business. They are snug but still easy to fit onto the end of the pipe. Arrived in time and well packed.
