Why is are PVC fitting sockets bigger than their named size?
PVC sizes get their name from the inner diameter of the PVC pipe as they are nominal, or 'in name only'. If you add the thickness of the wall on each side of the pipe, the outside diameter of the PVC pipe will always be larger that the actual PVC size.
What will this table cap fit?
Important PVC Size Information
This fitting will connect standard 1-1/4" Size Schedule 40 plumbing-grade or Furniture Grade PVC pipe, which has an outside diameter of 1.660" or 1-5/8".
- Can be permanently connected with clear PVC cement.
- Pipe inserts internally, inside of the table cap
- Fits standard 1-1/4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe.
- Not compatible with CTS or CPVC style pipe, EMT conduit or wood dowels.
How to Use PVC Table Caps
Where to use PVC Table Caps
Table Caps are used when you need a PVC Pipe segment to connect to flat, perpendicular materials, such as wood, concrete or drywall (use proper anchors for each specific materials).
Mount the Table Cap
Connect the Table Cap to the flat surface by using three (3) #10 screws or fasteners. The lengths of the screws depends upon the material you are connecting to. Be sure to use the proper anchors for the specific material you are mounting to.
Secure the PVC Pipe
Insert the PVC pipe into the Table Cap and make sure it is fully seated. For a permanent connection, it is highly recommended that clear PVC cement be used to secure the pipe and Table Cap together.

Fit is tight enough with either Formufit or 'standard' 1-1/4" PVC pipe that cementing is not needed when used to mount a table top on 4 legs (PVC pipe). Allows removal or disassembly for relocation or storage.Note: be careful not to overtighten screws; the tabs are only PVC, of course.

I used these fittings to build a kitty tower for my daughter's cat. They worked well. I do wish that they came 12 to a package rather than 10 so I could have followed my original design, but the ones I got were just what I needed.

I bought a bunch of Formufit pipe and various fittings to construct a racing simulator cockpit. The pipe was all individually wrapped and looks new and shiny. The fitting are all in various stages of being scuffed and scratches, as if they have been in a large bin with other parts. Don't expect them to be "new" looking. This probably shows up more on black than any other color, I'd guess.On the plus side, they are completely free of markings and are relatively smooth and clean looking vs. construction grade fittings. Some of the styles (3-way, 4-way and 5-ways) you just can't get in construction grade. It would be nice if they made some Wyes.The fittings all seem to fit up nice to the pipe. I have not finished assembly so I can't comment on whether or not they are truly "4 times stronger" than construction grade materials.
