This product doesn't work with 3/8" shanks. I bought this to extend the reach of my Irwin Tools Marples Forstner Bits, which have a 3/8" shank. Even with WD-40, it would not fit. While it does seem sturdy, I cannot recommend this product if you are buying it for 3/8" shanks. If, however, the shank is 1/4", then it probably would work well. Otherwise, don't waste your money.
