The tripod mount for the lens is made of lightweight metal alloy and feels solid. I think $30 is somewhat elevated price for this mount. I whish it cost less.

Pretty much does what it says. The tripod ring screws on tightly, and the screw is captive. There is no rotation or movement when it's tight. The foot has many screw points, in a pattern of 12 holes. There are 11 1/4" screw holes, and a larger center one for 3/8" mounts. The foot is a bit short in both length and distance from the lens barrel, though, compared to other tripod mounts, which makes it more difficult to use as a handle. It also does extend back from the mount point, so it may interfere with the grip if it is positioned sideways.
