This has been the worst purchase experience I've had on Amazon. The A/C Compressor did not come as advertised. In ad it stated that it had been tested for noise, but when I received it, a hand-written tag attached to it stated that there would be noise and it is normal because of the repair. The noise was a very loud clacking like a reed getting caught in the fins of a pulley or something. It frequently lost ability to cool, even after having it recharged only a week or two after installing. I have since replaced it with a new one from another company and am much happier so far.

The item came as described. It was securely packaged in bubble wrap. The item did not come with oil so I added 5 Oz while spinning the clutch. The electrical connector was different so I had to splice the old one.I also replaced the account drier and the orings (I purchased a complete set of orings just in case). The unit I purchased had 2 dents on the outside. One dent was on the guide for the mounting bolt and the other is on the clutch plate. I chocked this up as, "That must be why the unit was only $150. And the damage was only external. Let's put it on and see what happens. " That's why I only gave 4 stars. Then I ran the vacuum pump using the Guage manifold from autozone. Then I installed the 18 Oz can of refrigerant. It's been 5 days and the actual works great.Update: The unit doesn't work as well as it should, it works but not as cold as it should. When I pulled off the compressor belt for an unrelated repair, I tried turning the clutch plate by hand and it was very jerky. Im not certain if it as like that when I installed. I remember noting the external damage. Since I didn't replace expansion valve also and and flush system I do not fall under warranty. Im going to do the repair again with a different compressor. Along with the other review with a bent rod, I want to try someone else.

We have two 2006 Mazda 5 wagons, his and hers. The A/C compressor in one of them quit last year, and I spent 500 bucks on an OEM since this was not available. When the second one quit, I tried this. Slightly different package from the OEM part, but fits and works perfectly.

OK, this was a weird purchase.THE BAD: I tried to buy a rebuild that was done in the USA, not Mexico. The wildly defective unit that arrived probably was processed in Nigeria. The clutch wheel was seized solid: wouldn't budge a millimeter. The pulley actually turned - hoo-rah - but the shaft was bent, causing it to grind on each revolution. The compressor itself was painted with a cheap, gloss black paint, looking nothing like the pristine photo in the listing. I sent off a blazing email to the vendor, asking if the transaction was drop-shipment job: it was. In the end, it was 4S in Texas that mailed out the piece of garbage. Amazon was in the middle of this initial exchange.THE GOOD: The response from both 4S and, in particular, Bill Bunton Auto Supply, was all on could ask for. In the end, they replaced the originally shipped scrap iron with a unit that was rather gorgeous and, bet of all, worked just fine.COMMENT: It is likely that someone in the 4S warehouse dropped the remanufactured compressor and just put it into stock rather than reporting the accident. Regardless, something bad happened behind management's back, perhaps even a surreptitious swap of a proper unit with an employee's trashed one.
