Overall good, the dimple side was off center so I had to re-drill it but works fine for what it is.

who ever makes this micro tap giude should try it before putting on market. thats not what they used to be for LOL. but could be used as a scriber on a cnc mill machine to out line the tool path. its not a true fowler tool. so please don't list it as one. l did get a refund and didn't have to return it. i did thru it away that's one less crap tool that wont get back to resale. that's fraud useing the fowler name and part number for something that isn't in my eyes. l grew up useing fowler tooling back in the day they wern't the best tooling out there in my time BUT they were good tooling that really worked for those young people starting out in the machining world. fowler company did merge with another company, maybe fowler should help them made tooling like this the way it should be. the buy in was about 2 to 3 hunderd million for that other company. maybe fowler screwed them and got rig of the plans, fixtures, and the tooling to make this micro tap guide along with othere fowler tools. lots of companys do stuff like this then after a year or two fowler walks away with money's in hand and start a new line of tooling under a new name. its called corporate. and thats a uncaring team of soleless people its about the numbers in the books NOT the people trying to keep the name to make this merge work. just saying!!!

An absolute necessity when tapping holes on a lathe.

Le ressort est beaucoup trop fort pour des petites filières. Par chance, j'ai remplacé le ressort par 2 ressorts plus faibles. Le trou sur le poussoir n'est pas parfaitement centré mais l'erreur de centrage restera faible.

I have no idea what country made this product but I'm quite happy with it. I'm not a machinist, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night. You young ones won't get this joke, but I tried. I like the ability to pre-load the spring, and of course love the reversible tip.

Not sure why this is getting such a bad rap here. For the price, this is a nice little tool made in India. The single piece body was perfectly aligned with the spring loaded pin on mine. The insides were a little dirty but not hard to clean it out. The spring is on the stiff side depending on what you are using it for. I measured it, and it is approximately 11lbs/in. If you are using larger taps on steel it is probably perfect. However, I usually tap smaller holes (#10 and smaller) in aluminum. In my case, the spring is too stiff. No big deal. I bought a lighter spring on McMaster for a new bucks (P/N: 8969T409) that is about 1lbs/in and it is perfect. I am keeping the original spring in the sheath with it to swap out if I need to use larger taps in steel.

Cheap and works fine. Very strong spring and not the smoothest movement so be careful on small taps under 4-40 when first lining up.

Very happy with this purchase. I'm contemplating replacing the spring with a slightly lighter one - the purpose of this device is to seat the follower and align the tap, not force the tap through the work. However, I'll work with it for a bit before deciding.

Really wanted to like this unit but as soon as I got it, the spring felt off. Some other reviews posted that the spring was stiff. I said how bad could it be? Well it's pretty unacceptable in my application of tapping small parts in AL and plastic. To confirm, did a preload test of force to see what it took to just move the rod only a 1/16 inch. Was almost 2x stiffer than a friends starrett. See pictures. I'll be returning. Spend the extra few bucks on the real deal OR plan on swapping a spring.
