This is convenient and an inexpensive vise but it would be far more useful if instead of holes to anchor would have long slots so it could be used in many different work plates. I had to modify mine to make it fit on the Shapeoko 3

Solid Vice that does not move if set up right

I was really hoping based on the reviews that this would hold a bit better than it did. The middle slot isn't long enough to reach my bolt pattern on my table. That's not a big problem as I can fix that.My biggest issue with these was the small bolt (1/4-20 maybe?) pushing the center of the moving jaw and just not having enough pressure on the outside edges of the jaw.I'm sure it would be great for small projects with a very LOW material removal rate, but any medium side pressure from an endmill will send your block flying.

Well-designed and solid enough for use with my Anolex 3030 Evo Pro with a1.5kw spindle. Holes are spaced at 45 and 90 mm, so are perfect for this machine.A good design feature is the independent jaw which can be locked down, helping eliminate problems with loosening due to vibration *mostly*.I have had problems with stock working loose which I attribute to the single-screw design, and I am afraid to crank on it too hard lest I strip something out. I have added and tapped two additional holes toward either end, so now I have three screws which I am confident will give me the additional grip I need.A good value for the money.

The vise is a bit fiddly to use compared to a normal vise but if you need something very low profile ( like for CNC on a small machine ) then its really one of the best options out there for the price. Its well built and has good clamping force is used correctly.

The vise holds parts plenty tight enough and is easy to use. I only have 1 con: 1 the bolt spacing to mount the vise is not compatible with my 3018 pro solid aluminum bed. I ended up drilling and tapping a hole in my bed so I could bolt it down secure enough. The pre existing holes are 54mm center to center and that falls in between 2 of the mounting holes. If you have the slotted bed then it bolts right up using the slots. Not a huge deal to overcome for me but would be nice if they added 4 total holes instead of 3 to mount it to different beds. V rails would have been nice so the clamping pieces can't lift while tightening it down but for the price and the machine it's going on , It's probable more accurate. Overall I really like the quality and functionality of this vise and would recommend to anyone wanting a better clamping solution for milling on a 3018 or similar cnc.

Good little vise. Not really a precision tool but it's good enough for the smaller machines. Be advised you will loose a significant amount of Z travel but for PCB boards it's fine. There are two types of beds out there on 3018 machines, a one piece bed, that the attach bolts and T nuts (5mm) will work on and a two piece bed which it wont. I have the two piece bed so I dropped down a bolt size and printed some sleeves to fit in the bolt holes. Not a big deal for me but just be aware of this issue. All in all it holds well, comes with a set of ball drivers to tighten. Little pricey but will last a lifetime if taken care of.

I had a task to engrave dog tags. Rather than trying to setup and do 10 at a time, it was quicker to load them in the vice one at a time and do them. Paid for itself after the first job.

I'm so glad I got this low profile vice for my FoxAlien 3018-SE! It is so much easier to clamp my workpieces with this. The little individual clamps which come with the 3018 can be a hassle to put on, plus they can get in the way of the spindle. I've seen several people who have fried their MOSFET on the controller board when their spindle crashed into one of their clamps. With this mini-vise, there are no protruding bolts above the workpiece. It also allows me to engrave small pieces of wood from edge to edge, since it clamps from the sides, instead of above. The 3018 CNCs have a fairly short Z-axis, so no regular vise would work. I had to loosen my spindle clamp and raise my spindle as high as it would go.I thought the price was a little high, but once I got it and used it, I realized you're paying for quality. It's machined from a solid piece of aluminum and everything fits very well. I highly recommend it, especially if you're just getting into CNC, it takes away a lot of the hassle of clamping your material down. Plus, it gets rid of the risk of running the spindle into the clamps.
