All-steel lock mechanism will withstand forced entry loads of 1000lbs and has yellow zinc dichromate (YZD) plating for corrosion resistance. Mortise lock features a round end face plate, adjustable hook, 45 degree hub, and 4-5/8” screw holes. Package includes mortise lock, FPL #6 keeper / strike, and all installation screws. Nice replacement, heavy duty and secure. Would be nice if it came with the thumb latch you need to lock/unlock the door. I'm guessing that part is only included if you purchase the lock and handles. I used my old one, but it is quite old and should have been replaced as well. This replacement lock does not include it, so be sure to keep the one you currently have as you will need it. Since the thumb latch attaches directly to the lock, I would think it would be included, as the lock is useless without it. Also, it was an easy install, but still would have been nice to have instructions to refer to. I did end up putting the thumb latch in upside down as it is hard to know which way as all pieces need to be held together during the install. I was going to leave it that way, but when I just went to look at it, I noticed how much grime has accumulated on the handle over the years, so now I want to take it apart and scrub them...lol! I would still highly recommend this replacement lock and am happy with the purchase. It works really good and I especially like the long screws for added security.

I have three of the sliding glass patio doors and all of the original locks have failed because of a little spring that breaks. Too bad I couldn't just get the springs but the door manufacturer for this sliding glass/plastic door for Lowes is very secretive and there is no way to contact them for the 10 cent spring to replace the ones they install in the doors. So I had to pay $50.00 for replacement locks when I should have been able to get the springs for less than $1.00 and repair them. These look almost exactly like the original that came with the door - sure hope the spring lasts longer than the original that came with the door. Since I hardly ever read the simplistic directions I managed to drop the old one inside the door. If I had put a screw driver in the hole BELOW the lock it would not have fallen inside the door. But a magnet fished it out for me. Finally the lock fit just fine and was easy to install. The only adjustment was I had to raise the metal piece on the door jamb about 3/16 inch so the lock would grab. I like em.

I assumed everything in the picture would be included but only received the latch mechanism, had to salvage parts off my old latch to make this work.

This is a nicely made piece of hardware at a good price. As described, it really is all-steel construction, unlike the piece of junk it replaced, which had plastic innards that wore out. It would have gotten 5 stars if it had come with instructions. I installed this as a replacement; without instructions including a template, I'm not sure how one would do a new installation.Some hints:o Counter-intuitively, it needs to be installed with the open part of the hook latch facing UPWARD, as pictured in the Amazon photo.o In addition to being able to move the keeper/strike up or down over a generous slot range, you can also fine-tune the height of the hook by turning the only visible flat-blade screw, counterclockwise for up, clockwise for down.o It takes a bit of patience, trial and error to get both of these positioned right.Once you get there, however, it moves and locks smoothly and definitively - good stuff!
