The size adjustability means its easy to keep the canvas taut.Tack it on in less than maximal size of hoop and then losen screws and stretch hoop as needed to tighten work. Great invention.

I'm a needlepoint beginner. I was very dismayed to find I might have to buy a bunch of stretcher bars or frames to fit a variety of sizes. I looked and compared and researched, and this is the best one at the best price, and it's solidly made. I also do cross stitch, and the only hoops that keep the cloth taut are small. That is frustrating, because must keep repositoning hoop. This works well for cross stitch too.
