This is a typically well-made Freud product, but it’s prone to stress fracturing under prolonged vibration. I use it to dado drawer fronts, backs, and sides, and owing to the cutter’s design and fairly long cutting edge, it tends to snap after about thirty dados. I attribute this failure to stress fracturing under strong vibrations in the tool. I’m guessing a shorter cutting edge and stouter “neck” on the tool — one designed specifically for cutting dados — would eliminate the fracturing.

Freud is one of two router bit brands that I use and have found them to be very dependable. That all changed with their 9/32” straight bit. After 11, 1/8” deep cuts no longer than 20” long in maple the bit snapped in half where the flutes meet the base. Router speed, feed speed, etc. was all double checked and I decided it was just a freakish thing that happened to the bit, so I ordered two more just to be safe. Well the second bit snapped in the same place after 7 passes and the third also snapped in the same place as the previous two after 5 passes. Not willing to waste money on buying any more of these I used a 5/16” bit to finish the project, making over 60 passes without a problem. Would not recommend these Freud, 9/32” bits to anyone.

When I saw that others experienced this bit breaking quickly I assumed it was just a fluke or bad luck...if so, then add me to that group. I installed the bit and routed six 4" slots in 3/8" plywood, then one 4" slot in 3/4" plywood before the bit broke halfway through the next slot. The bit is sharp and did not appear to be struggling at all with the cuts so the break came as a real surprise. I haven't had any issues with my other Freud bits but this will make me think twice before purchasing another of their bits. I'll contact Amazon about returning this bit but won't be surprised if they turn me down.

Shipping company didn’t ring buzzer. Kept on scheduling drop offs and then not showing up. Product looks good.

Freud usually makes awesome quality items. This router bit was not one of them. Snapped off after 2 mins of use on 3/8” depth cut on 20” length of clear fir wood (no knots). It will be going back.

We needed a smaller bit than 5/16 and this was just what we needed.

My husband loved this bit, cut well, but it broke on him tonight. I guess we will try another one, hopefully it will have a longer life span than 8 months of very little use. I don't know what kind of warranty it has since it says limited lifetime warranty. Seemed like a great product.

Freud continues to make quality router bits that cut true to size over the entire length of the bit.

I've been using this bit on MDF (which tends to quickly destroy bits) and this bit is lasting much longer than the HD/Lowes bits I've tried. The blades are still sharp after significant use. Can't beat the price!
