I tried everything possible to get the old cover so I could this new cover. Followed a number of You Tube videos. No luck at all. I finally took the switch to my local MB dealer. They tried. A veteran mechanic from Oahu was on Island and tried. Finally MB corporate was contacted. There we learned that the cover and switch are one piece. There is no way to replace just the cover. This item will not work as described.

Very happy with my purchase. Seems to be as good if not better than the original part. It's really tricky removing the selector switch as shown in the video - check out some other videos online - all very similar and all comment that it's a really tricky manoeuvre!

As almost everyone says, getting the old switch toggle out is difficult. It is really hard to know what you are trying to accomplish. Once you get it apart you will find that you were just trying to press the tabs on the axle of the toggle. One of the most frustrating aspects is that the old unit is so sticky and gooey that the sticky is everywhere trying to work in it. In retrospect, I should have tried to clean the sticky off with some orange cleaner first. Once I got the toggle switch out, it was super easy movie the clear pieces and snapping it back together. Overall, worth it. Just bring patience.

The dreaded gummy headlamp switch surround. Just about all European cars used a similar soft-touch coating back in the early2000s as I've experienced it on the wife's BMW and a Land Rover. The W211 Mercedes is no different and after ten-plus years, the coating becomes a gooey, sticky mess. Try to clean it and any lint on your cleaning cloth becomes an integral part of the switch plate forever. Unless your headliner happens to be falling down, the sticky headlamp switch is probably the nastiest part of your W211's interior.The Goodithy Front Left Dashboard Headlight Switch Cover solved that issue for me. Removing the old switch from the car was simple. Removing the knob from the old switch was the tricky part. In addition to the video here on Amazon, there are YouTube videos showing how it *should* pop off, but mine was a royal pain. Once apart, the Goodithy face plate simply clicked right on to the old housing once the front/rear fog lamp indicators were swapped over. I can once again read the lighting symbols, my fingers don't get gooey when turning on the headlamps, and the car's interior looks as good as ever. Five stars easy!

I made the mistake of cleaning the sticky old plastic around the headlight switch in my w211 E63 with rubbing alcohol. The stickiness came off but so did the painted symbols around the switch. This was very easy to install and now the switch looks as it did new.

La moldura y el diseño se ajustaron a la medida, quise cambiarle esta pieza al control de las luces exteriores de mi Mercedes Benz 350E del 2007 ya se encontraba desteñida por los productos de limpieza y el uso. Se ajustó a la medida pero para instalarlo seguí algunas instrucciones que se ven en Youtube y la verdad es que fue todo un fracaso y destrucción total. Fue muy difícil soltar el interruptor que dá vuelta hacia atrás y hacia adelante el que sirve para encender, apagar, y otras funciones del Control de luces externas; al tratar de sacar el interruptor destruí el eje por lo que ahora sólo pude ponerlo a funcionar de manera automática, cada vez que enciendo el vehículo, se encienden las luces, de día o de noche.

Nice soft-touch finish like how I would imagine the original to feel. The print quality is better than shown in the stock photos, but still not quite MB good. Regardless, it's way better then the sticky and smeared original so I can't complain. Installation is a total pain, but that's down to the knob removal and not the fault of the plate manufacturer.
