Loose Gas Door? Replace It With This Part From AA Ignition

This is a common problem on the design of the gas door on your Ford F-150 or Lincoln Mark LT.

The factory gas door housing starts to malfunction after a few years and due to this, it may not close properly and will have to be replaced.

Read and listen to the other negative reviews. I usually see negative reviews and attribute them to installer error or a part defect.. This part is a terrible replacement. Poor fitment and a few mm larger than the OEM part so it is a pain to install unless you file/sand down the bottom of this housing by the drain hole. Their customer support is non existent otherwise I would've tried resolving this issue before leaving a review.

Fits good and easy install. Only issue was the painted fuel door doesn't slide correctly back on. I couldn't get it to 'click'. Hopefully it doesn't fly off while driving.

2012 ford f150 fx4 ecoboost. Second time buying this. Easy to install, does what it says. Wish they made one with a steel pin instead of plastic but I don't mind spending 22 bucks every 3 years when it's this easy to replace.

This unit doesn't fit like the OE did, the only thing wrong with the OE is the spring broke, This one has a noisy spring, (clicks and pops when opened and closed) and was severely harder to install than the old one was to take out. I put the old one back in quicker than this new one, and was much easier to get through the bed panel. This one won't fit the bed panel as designed. the gas door won't go flush with the bed side, and there's no way to get this unit to fit into the opening like it's supposed to. I've put these in before with far less problems than this one. Guess you get what you pay for.

Overall, this is a great value and fits perfectly once you get the tabs all lined up. You'll need to reach up inside to feel where the tabs insert into and use some force to secure it. The only minor issue I had was the tab on the outer hinged part was a bit too long and you could not secure the circular exterior cap completely. Users will have to trim a small portion of the tab to get the cap to click into place so it will not fall off, which is as easy as using a pair of clippers to remove a millimeter of the tab. Once installed it matches completely and functions exactly as the original.

It fit fine. It took me about 20 minutes to install. There are 3 bolts and 4 plastic tabs that secure it. The bolts are self explanatory. However, removing the old housing requires that two of four tabs be pushed in with a screwdriver. One must get under the truck to push on those tabs. Then, the old one just pops out. A little care is valuable while installing the new. Line up the bolt holes with their corresponding holes on the fuel filler neck. Also, try to keep the door-arm level to the ground for aesthetics. The housing will not rotate once the tabs engage.

Update: It broke like the Ford one did after only 7 months. Well made? Boy was I wrong about that. The Ford one actually lasted longer. Except for what I said below about how to install the part, forget what I said below. I won't buy another one of these or even take them up on the "lifetime warranty". I'm going to repair the old Ford one with a screw and washer like the YouTubers show you, so I don't have to do this in another 7 months. This fuel door assembly is better than the original Ford part. The pin, which tends to pop out on the original part, is redesigned to prevent this from happening. It fit well on my 2011 Ford F-150 3.7 liter V-6 truck. I installed it in no time. After removing the fill pipe yellow ring (if you have one) and bolts, just be sure to press in on the two tabs of the four tabs toward the back of the vehicle and gradually pull the old part out. Be patient, since it may take some tries if you've never replaced the part before. The part easily installs after that. So far I'm very happy with this part and hope that it will be the last time I have to mess with this part. It's nice to know that the part has a lifetime warranty.
