There's not much to it. Watch some videos to learn how to do it. If you are a DIYer, it's easy. The included instructions fail to differentiate door height for the winding. If you have an 8 ft door wind 34 times, not the 28 they mention, which is for a 7 ft door. The instructions could be better. They also don't mention the bushing in the center. Videos are your friend.

Great Value Worked Well. The springs come with heavy metal winding rods and instructions. I would suggest also reviewing some on line videos. make sure you measure correctly. You can save huge amounts of money doing this yourself if you feel up to it. Appears to be a high quality product - if somewhat dirty and rusty. Apply the proper lubricants after install and both dirt and rust disappears

probably like you, I was faced with needing to replace my garage door springs and was shocked at the cost of doing that with a service. I figured I was a mechanically inclined person with YouTube, I should be all set. “Save some money,” I thought.Well, I installed them flawlessly, but I noticed that my garage door was very sluggish. I double and triple checked the number of winds on the spring. Everything was in order, but the door still felt heavy, and the lift master opener was sluggish. Not being a garage door repair person I didn’t know what that meant but Money was tight so we let it ride.Fast forward several months and the continues to get slower and slower. Finally had a garage door company to double check the work. They verified that the springs were wound correctly, but when they set the door down on their digital scale rather than weighing the target 5 pounds it weighed more than 60!Another words, the springs are garbage. They do not have anywhere near the tension and strength that they’re supposed to have.So bottom line I got the pleasure of giving Amazon my money, buying the springs and spending a couple hours installing them, only replace them not even one year later. And honestly, they probably didn’t work right from the beginnibg, but I didn’t know better.Buyer beware. You get what you pay for.

I broke a spring and ordered these replacements at 8 PM on a Sunday evening. They went from San Antonio Texas to Louisville Kentucky on Sioux Falls South Dakota, and finally to Calgary. I was shocked to see them on my doorstep on Tuesday morning! Way cheaper than buying them locally and probably faster as well! They are super strong, you may want to try them at one full turn less than recommended (4 quarter turns). I sent them according to the recommendations and they were far too tight and the door flew to the top. After backing off both sides a full turn, they work perfectly!

Fast delivery and easy to install, it’s work great so far! The only thing I complain about it doesn’t come with the white line on the coils otherwise anything good

The springs are easy to install. Red end is the right side, black end is the left side. I wish there is a straight white paint across the springs so we can easy tell how many turns we have made. It's an easy fix. I just paint it myself using a paint brush.

Item was accurately described and arrived on time.Being in a hurricane prone area, my springs are relatively substantial due to the weight of the door and all the bracing; that being the case, the estimates I received ranged between $200 to $300 (per spring, installed). Not wanting to spend $400 to $600, and being halfway handy, I decided to look into doing it myself and a quick search led me to several videos on the subject. From start to finish, it took me about an hour to remove the old ones, install the new ones and tension them, with another 1/2 hour or so spent finetuning the tension. I would think a professional, who does this day-in-day-out, could probably get it completely done in under an hour. Long story short, about 2 hours of my time ended up saving me several hundred dollars and I am so far very happy with the product.*In my unprofessional opinion* I assume it is best to replace both springs to ensure the tensions are equal and b/c the one spring that didn't break, most likely soon will. I wouldn't call this an overly complicated project, but you do need to be careful because you could seriously injure yourself - there are plenty of videos on this project, so check them out and decide for yourself if this is something you can take on. I would strongly recommend not standing directly in front of the spring cones while tensioning them - in the event a winding bar slips, you definitely do not want to be in the way. Unplug the opener and put a vice grip in the track to prevent the door from being able to open while you're working on the springs, but do remember to remove the vice grip before you try to operate the door upon completing the installation. As a side note, the teeth on my carrier (trolley) stripped out when the spring broke and the door slammed down to the ground from about 3' up, and I didn’t realize this until it was time to test the door with the opener, so I would suggest going ahead and ordering one along with the springs just in case you need it – if you don’t need it, you can return it (assuming it’s unused). A lot of good videos out there on replacing that, too - very simple and the part is cheap ($25+/- for OEM replacement from the Amazon Genie store).

I too read through the negative reviews but then past them for the positives. YES, the way they are shipped it not ideal BUT the value is there. Just be careful while opening package as the zip ties that hold the spring in a “U” shape had snapped and the springs popped out while opening. Big deal? Not at all! Quality seems good. The rods they come with are standard rods, nothing fancy, but they are all you need to do the job. And again, it’s not like you are paying a premium for them. I priced springs online and they were around 2x the price of these. Instruction are also included, and seem to be pretty accurate. I used a tutorial on YouTube that said the same basic things but with better visuals. Took me under an hour. For my specific door, I found that I needed only 27 winds per spring vs the 29 listed. All depends on the weight of your door. Fine tuned it and the door operated brilliantly now. These arrived in under 24 hours as well so I was not stuck without a garage for too long. So, in short, very happy! Parts as described, and installed perfectly. Great, value over others and a tremendous savings if you called a repair place.
